i dont no what is wrong with people lately
maybe it is that spring it quite near,
maybe it is that people are stuck inside too long.
i dont know but everyone needs to relax and be friends.
we all have something in common and that is chameleons.
what happened to talking about chams, nicely, and being grateful for everyone’s knowledge?
why cant we all understand people have different ideas, and view points, and not criticize them for it. this place used to have a lot of respect for one another now i think people are trying to out do each other.
this reminds me of when i was like 15 and all the punks would try to out "punk" the other kids. its retarded. are we children or are we men(and women)?
what im trying to say is that you should think before you post something. think is this going to sound ignorant, is this going to offend someone, and if it does dont say it. you learn to not say ignorant things from your mother, and im sure she doest think your cool for proving someone wrong with ignorance. if you dont like someone dont reply to their threads.

im not starting a fight, or naming anyone out, so if you start complaining here, can one of the mods just close this, so i dont have to deal with this crap. its been going down lately. very touchy subjects. i never seen a closed thread before and now ive seen two closed threads in like 3 days. horrible.

ps im really glad the mods have the ability to close threads. thanks brad.

I agree. I haven't been a member that long but there has already been a few times where I have been somewhat disgusted with people. I have noticed it with threads from people who are obviously very new to the hobby and have posted "please help" questions. I say even if it is plain as day to most of us with experience what is wrong with their cham or their husbandry, they should not be shunned, made fun of, or meant to feel like fools. At least they have the courage and common sense to ask for help from people who may have any idea as to how to help them. Instead of one-upping each other, we should listen to each others ideas, theories, and practices so we can become the best chameleon keepers possible. :)

I'm sure i've sounded crappy a time or two and can think of a few when somoeone was crappy to me. So I apologize for that as well.

Hahaha, I love the cleansing effect this has. It feels nice :D

not to mention chameleon keeping is a very specific hobby, so anyone doing it must be pretty cool in there own kinda way

I've recently been involved in a thread that ended in the thread being closed for 24 hours. I will never let anyone disrespect me in an open forum. I wouldn't tolerate it in print and I wouldn't tolerate it face to face either.

How I choose to deal with it will change, though.

What is unfortunate , is that what ever the outcome, the entire issue is disrespectful to this forum . It is also very troubling to me that it reflects a very poor example for some of the young members here.

I have resolved , to bite my tongue , in future, if I can.

I also have learned to use the red button that appears on every post , ( beside the green button), and if the post is out of line , I will and I have requested that the comment and the poster be dealt with.

I do agree that civility is at stake. But , remember , there are those that will take advantage of those among us that will turn a blind eye to it. You can't always defer your responsibility to deal with punks or always leave it for the next guy to deal with.

So, if you are not part of the solution , you are part of the problem.

Having been here daily for a year, for the most part this is a very civil forum. I do see a very passionate and protective group of people. I don't think anyone here thinks that people ask stupid questions as all questions are good ones and a way to get and give help, but when someone asks a question or seeks an opinion and then flat out refuses to change what they are doing it really bothers the people that have been raising chameleons sucessfully for a long time. Opinions are opinions, and everyone should learn to live with that. Facts are facts, and what works works and what doesn't, doesn't.

I agree with your point as well Julirs...well put. It is very frustrating to have someone ask for help/opinions in any situation and then to tell you that you are wrong. It's like why bother then? I guess all we can do is help each other out as best we can and move on.

Text is toneless. You will often perceive the intent of and the tone of someones online writing, quite differently than that person had made them out to be. This likely makes up for the bulk of many online disputes I would think. Humor and jovial sarcasm don't come across well. This is actually why emoticons were made.

:D

hello people. i didnt expect a response from my post.
i was only trying to get a message across and i know that i got it to some.
thank you all for putting in the effort. ive seen many of times where someones
comment made me mad, even when it wasnt directed at me.
they were attacking someone for something they didnt know what should happen.
it wasnt their fault, and im glad the forum is back to the old, so to say.

this is my point exactly! thank you.

this is very true. i dont use the icons myself, and sometimes i say things that are very sarcastic. im usually a very easy going guy,
who likes to make BAD jokes.
so if anyone gets offended by what i say, please send me a PM,
and ill sort it out that way. i usually wont mean anything bad by it.

ive done a lot of wrong with my cham. i know this now because of this
and another forum. they shouldent be made fun of, they should be educated.

thank you all for your understanding.

lets not forget the unsolicited threatening PM's. Its easy to talk the talk on the WWW, in person is a whole new ball game.
