The Great Outdoors

hey jay,

i know that type of screen will help, ( i could be missing something but it looks like mesh ) but on some of those cages with just one plant it looks like they could use some more shade.

like a small piece of wood on top , or some vines on top.

IDK hard to tell since im not right there, im sure its fine now, just thought id mention it.

Nice setup Jay!

I still say you need to take orders for the "green Cage" Like I've told you already. I would much rather buy one of these vs the LLL screen cages..That is if you can be competitive with the price. But seeing as all you have to buy is screen and door hardware. I think you could be. Shipping wouldn't be a problem Just ship the six sides not put together flat wrapped in cardboard.

Luis..Check Jay's "threads made by Malicious" There is one in there about the "green" cage.

They were able to seek shade if they needed it, on either side of the plant towards the lower half. It was mild here yesterday. The high was almost 87. They were also misted for 5 mins every hour with the MistKing system. I have temp guages, I am cautious about that stuff, but thank you for your concern.:)

I have more vines and trees coming this next week to better fill the cages though. They stayed at the top 85% of the day basking anyhow.

Luis, look for the post: "Mini Saloon" :)

Shannen,

The shipping part would be expensive. All the joints are dowled and glued, and then clamped, Id rather assemble them to know thier done correctly. Not to say others couldn't, I'm just anal like that... The cage looks even better now then when I originally built it, seeing as Pine darkens with age. It's one of the few woods that cannot be kiln dried, since it will burn up. It looks even more rustic after several days in the sun. :) It's too bad El Dorado won't be in that cage but for another month or so. It then it is kinda valuless, till another baby comes along. I have another 16.5x16.5x30" coming this week for him to try out.

Looking at the other thread brought it all back. I remember reviewing that when you posted it. Good stuff...

Yes yes, anal indeed. I would just predrill some holes and send some wood screws along with it. But that's just me. I'm a "get it done" kinda guy. Not anal at all.

I keep hearing Bevis and Butthead laughing at every "anal"

Great shots, love. And the kids look so cute, especially Sadie. Haha.. Osang's becoming the cranky grandma, isn't she..
