The Greenhouse Grasshopper Gorge

Joel, I think I better move into the reptile shed and the chameleons can have the house!
I may be able to get a very young CB in the winter so watch out !
Wonderful videos- keep them coming, more please - more! it's a joy to see your amazing animals.

Lol!! I feel the same way. They are taking over!!

We have a piece of land that is in the middle of nowhere that my great great grandparents used to live on. Nothing or no one has been on the land since roughly 1970ish...so it is perfect for field collecting. I go out about twice a week to collect insects. I swear my melleri know when I do this. If I walk in the greenhouse with crickets, roaches, etc., they are definitely interested. But when I bring in grasshoppers, they go bananas!!

Here are some videos from today's afternoon snack.

Macumba is looking a little rough because she is about to shed. She is one of the few chameleons I have ever had that even when she is in full shed, she actively hunts. I mean shed hanging off the turrets barely being able to see kind of shed. It's hilarious!!

Joel

I have an old ranch that I used to live on that I have got access to today that I collect grasshoppers on. Plus a couple other spots that are similar grasshopper collecting spots. The chameleons definite look much more keen for diner when it is grasshopper diner time. The only other insect that compares to grasshoppers is preying mantis.

I recommended looking into captive breeding grasshoppers. That way grasshoppers are available to your chameleons year round not just seasonally. PM me if you are interested Joel.

Best Regards
