No, not a chameleon, but pretty cool to have them living in your backyard! One of our members Jannb has one for a pet! He is super friendly, but the ones in my yard are NOT! This one is the biggest one I have ever seen! For those of you who do not know, he is a Cuban Knight Anole.

I live in South Florida about 1 hour north of Fort Lauderdale in Palm Beach County. We also have the curly tail lizards all over the place and of course the little brown anoles. I have a backyard "pet"curly tail that lives under my deck. He waits for me to come outside and feed my chameleons and I throw him food!

Mine was never aggressive unless you put your hand around it to pick it up. as long as you let it walk onto your hand he was fine.

:D I love those- we have 2 females who came in as rescue - they are really friendly :) then laid a ton of eggs- I gave everyone I know a baby - lol and kept one for myself

I know I have seen Jannb's and he is very sweet, but the ones outside if you corner them or get near them they open their mouths at you!

That's crazy they are up that far north. I'm surprised the cold winter didn't kill them.

This is my little sweetheart Dulce. We have had her since she was a wee baby. She has been hanging out on a tree in my kitchen for 5 and a half years now.

Here she is as a baby eating applesauce off a tooth pick.

We also have basilisks here in Naples - I've seen them around the hotel where I work, and point them out to the visiting guests who love them. I've seen pictures of the Cuban Knight Anoles down here, but never one in person in the wild. I have to say that Jann's Dulce is a pretty girl who lives up to her name!

This is about as exotic of a lizard as we have here in pa. Ive only caught a handful of them in my life. Oh how i envy the southerners. :)

I am definitely jealous of those of you who live in Florida! i used to make fun of my aunt and uncle for retiring there, and now of course it's one of my goals :p

Although I do remember going all Steve Irwin on a rattlesnake as a kid, i dont have that many cool reptile experiences here in the southwest.
