Think dizzy's days are numbered :-(

Yeah me too. Thanks!

Dad and bro were cut up too.
Dad was like well in time I might get another depending how I feel, truth is she was a rare Cham and even though everyone days that , she actually was very special! And a fighter to the end!!
Everything was stacked against her and I know she wouldn't survive the op so I did what was right and what I had to do!

That is very true.
When I lost Pascal I almost didnt get another one. I felt really empty though, so my bf bought me a beardie, and he was sick, sold to me too early and the odds were just against him. When it became apparent that he wasn't going to make it either, I started looking for a new cham and found Kuzco :) He was born on my birthday and just so darn cute, it was perfect.

I would allow yourself time to grieve, and then decide whether or not you want another one. They do wriggle their way into your heart really quickly:)

so sorry for your loss, but you did the right thing. and you were so good to her. i recently lost my little love and it was so hard missing him i wasn't sure about getting another either. think of how good a life you can provide for the next lucky cham you take in...

there is no way to replace the loss. and you will always miss her, but the loss isn't quite as devastating to deal with if you have another to take care of :)

RIP Dizzy.

To be honest with you all invert tired, I am struggling with it I'm not going to lie!
I'm 28 and and feel too old to cry but everyone is right..... They do give a reason to care and want them!
It's their eyes, they indicate a higher level of intelligence than all other exotic animals!!
It's all about eye contact I find!
I buried her which was painfull.

A baron cage with locusts in is a dark place similar to a black hole in space

I'm sorry you lost her, but you did what you could for her & that's the mark of a dedicated owner. It's hard to lose an animal, when I lost my 2 chinchillas to the same genetic problem it was devastating- no amount of vet care could save them & when I had my boy put down, I was so upset the vet let me out through the fire exit to give me privacy.
Over time, you might feel the need to fill the empty cage, but that's ok. She was a good age & her time had come, so don't feel bad if you want to get another cham- they'd be lucky to have you as a owner

If I was to buy another chameleon what would I do with the current set up?
She was my first!
Would I clean it? Take it apart? New cage?

I would clean it and rearrange everything. Make it feel like a different enviroment.

Really sorry for the news though. First time i got on forums and checked this thread in a few days.

I would love to see a picture timeline of her life if you have it. I know it might be hard to put one together right now so if it is too much to ask i understand.

I really hope you get another cham though. Maybe consider a rescue!

I'm sorry to hear about Dizzy :( At least you were very lucky to have such a long time with her.. you should be very proud! :)

My thoughts are with you xx

She is in a roses tin so the horrible maggots can't go anywhere near her!!
She is wrapped up in an old t shirt of mine

Awww, poor sweetie! The ideas people have about making sure there is something to catch her when she falls is good. 6 years is a wonderful "old" age for a female! Bless you...

I'm sorry to hear about Dizzy. And i's OK to cry about it. I'm 27 years old, my boyfriend is 28 and when I lost ym Kukui this past september, we were both in tears.

People think our chameleons are "just another lizard." They aren't. We spend so much time on our chameleons. It's like a child - and the way they study us with their googlie eyes, it makes me wonder if they are as interested in us as we are to them. There is something there, something clicking in that little brain that makes us fall in love with them. Not to mention the way they change their colors from light to dark, as if it's as easy as breathing. I think we all wish, on some level, that we could be as openly emotive as a chameleon...and when they pass, we are still scared to let it all out.

As for the cage, when Kukui passed, I cleaned it real well with a natural soap, cleaned the cage again with water, let it sit outside for a week or so, drying, cleaned it again and finally rubbed it down in olive oil, a natural anti-bacterial. Then I waited about a month before getting my new chameleon, Bubbagump.

So sorry. My baby, who is at the moment sleeping on my finger, is also named Dizzy! Hope she lives as long as your Dizzy did. :)

I am so sorry for your loss, but 6 years for a female is an amazing accomplishment. It sounds like she had a wonderful, happy life with you.

It looks like Dizzy speed in 2012. Am I reading dates correctly? How did this thread resurface I wonder
