How do I get a baby veiled chameleon to use the dripping system? I do not believe he knows how it works yet, I mist him 2-3 times a day sometimes 4 because I never see him drink
Chameleons can be shy drinkers. It's possible that you may never actually see him drinking. Just keep an eye on his urates for signs of dehydration (yellow is a warning and orange is signs of them really needing water).
For the drip system, just let it go and let him go. If you stand there and watch he may never go near it because you're watching. Also, always keep it in the same spot, so that he can understand that's where the water comes from and anticipate it when you start the dripper. I've had my cham almost 4 months now and I rarely ever see her drinking. She just does it when I'm not looking, that's all.
Stick with the mistings too, for a few minutes 2-3 times a day. Sometimes it takes awhile to trigger the drinking response. Or he's just waiting until you leave.
