Hi everyone, we had posted a thread on here a few months ago, asking for opinions on a black spot on Thor's stomach. We even went to the vet and got a consultation on it. But we noticed over the last week and a half that his spot has become red (like the color he is). We've noticed it is the brightest color right after he gets done eating. It does become darker when he seems mad/upset. Does anyone know why the color could just come and go? Is it just something in the pigment in him?

Here is the link to the first thread we posted about this; https://www.chameleonforums.com/thr...is-is-something-we-should-worry-about.148274/

Here are pictures of him from this morning after he ate;

And here are pictures of him from February and March;

If you need anymore information, please feel free to ask!
Any and all advice is appreciated!!!

Color change is controlled by hormonal change in response to stimuli...stress, both bad (anger, fear, intruders, etc) and good (excitement, activity, hunting, eating). They also tend to turn darker while basking, as dark colors absorb heat more quickly than light colors do. From what you described I tend to think this is just a spot of coloration that's unique to him. A question for you...as this spot has turned more red over time, have his other red spots also become redder? The fact that the spot DOES change along with his other markings tends to support this. If it were some sort of injury, infection, burn, whatever, the skin would be damaged, so more probable that it could not change color much if at all.

@Carlton - Hi, I am so sorry for such a late response! I didn't receive a notification that anyone had replied. But yes, his other colors have also become brighter.

my panther has a few white marks in this skin that never change color, yours could just be an imperfection in his skin.
