Guess I can't even say why I am here because my thread is now locked...(y) Not really sure how this forum expects their members to utilize the site if you can't even use parts of it until you have made a certain amount of posts. It's a little difficult when the thread I started gets locked and no one can respond to it

I feel it's a little ridiculous that members have to go through this to utilize what the site offers. I think once a member you already have proven you are not a BOT and should be allowed to utilize what the site offers, not be restricted by how many posts you have made and on top of that not even given a time frame or amount of posts needed to be relieved of the restriction.

Rules are rules man. We all did the same. It's not stupid at all. This ensures that there is some "giving" along with the "taking". Also as you were told already, it helps weed out spam / bots.

It doesn't take long at all. Reply to a few threads, start a thread (as you already have).. etc...

I never said it was stupid, just pointless. I already proved I am not a bot during the registration process.

While we understand it can be frustrating, running a forum and keeping it free of spam and bots is quite a task. I've ran many gaming forums from the back end to the user end, and I literally just threw my hands up and wiped the sites. Bots today are very clever and can get passed most human checks fairly easily. So most community sites as like this one are constantly being "attacked" and the backend clean up is always ongoing. Anyways, all they ask here is to give a little and you will get so much more in return. I don't think they are asking to much from its users..... Just like KapitalJ stated, it doesn't take long at all!

In reference to your thread being locked, it was moved to the classified forum and locked by me. I was also the one who answered your original question about why you couldn't post there. It is due to the fact that the rules do not allow for new members to simply enroll to sell stuff. After that explanation you again decided to post that you had chameleons for sale. (Again breaking the rule) I simply moved the post and locked it so that your contact info is still visible for those who may be interested. I am regretting this now as obviously I should have deleted it due to breaking rules.

I would have appreciated a message or at least a response to why it was locked. Instead I was sitting there wondering why my thread had no views or posts. If I am not allowed to post in the classified section why would you move it there while being locked, you might as well have just removed the thread and notified me of the error. My apologies for breaking any rules but I am trying to get something taken care by using this forum but that's not working out to well because of site "rules".

Sales threads are all locked any way. Members cannot post on them. We communicate with sellers using the Message system, or sellers' contact methods that are listed in the post. This is a fairly common policy at forums that I frequent, including one where I am a moderator.

People have been quite kind in explaining things. Hopefully that has not gone unnoticed by you.

This is one of the most unique websites/forums in the world for a number of reasons. Easily it's one of the best if not the best source for information on our animals if only since so many long term, experienced, and dedicated keepers come here. Add in the newer folks and you find an interesting symbiosis (minus the inevitable idiot that wanders in the door that gets flushed with Panacur, not referring to you by the way).

So, if you are a lover of these animals, welcome! :)

If you are just somebody wanting to sell your stuff here, well there is a procedure for that, adapt. :coffee:

@EliteChameleons , Now that I have a bit more time to answer, I would first like to say that I'm sympathetic to your situation, and I don't feel like you are posting just to sell stuff, but have the animals' interest in mind. That is why I didn't delete the thread in the first place. We do not try to control the content of the forums except to maintain the rules that are in place. It was more difficult for me NOT deleting the thread, and in fact asked advice about it after I moved it. I decided to just move it and act as if it were a normal classified ad that others could not respond to, and I made sure that they could not by locking the thread. If I were just doing what was supposed to happen the thread, along with your contact info would have been deleted and that would have been the end of it. I'm not expecting, nor do I deserve any thanks for doing that, and I hope your animals find great homes, but most of all I am proud of the community for sticking up for the rules and the reasons for doing what was done. Again, if you have any questions for me on the decision just send me a PM and I'll be glad to respond in private.
