Throwing the Baby out with the Bathwater

Vegas Chad,

Very easy (as is almost anything compared to chameleons)!
A Mantis is a good fit for a herp keeper too...you already have the food for it and they require very little space.
The general rule is 3 times the length of the mantid in height....to allow for proper molting.
I have not seen the movie you mentioned but my partner Frank likes to quote another film when I am doing bug work (he knows it irritates me!)

"It puts the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again"

edit: just realized you referenced a tv show, not a movie...Just needed you to know I'm not a total doorknob!

Just one thing with Mantis, they are not communal except 1 species i know (ghost mantis). For Chameleon, they will just fight when housed together.... for mantis, if you house them together, they will treat each other as snack. I just started into Mantis myself. If you have any question about it you can go to this site for more info or ask us

Well, what is a good beginner mantid according to you? I don’t want a plane jane but I still want something easy to take care of… What say yeee?

I would go with Ghost Mantis....you can house them together and they don't eat each other. Here are several link of people breeding Mantis in the states. They are pretty knowledgeable.

For Beginner:
African Mantis, Giant Asian Mantis, Ghost Mantis, Budwing Mantis, Wide Arms Mantis..... I would go with Ghost Mantis personally (they look awesome).
