time away from heat lamps

how long is safe for a chameleon to be handled, or away from their terrarium.

my jackson seems to enjoy falling asleep in my hair and gets super pissed when i wake him up even to put him back in the cage.

is your Jackson falling asleep during the day or do you mean at night time? If during the day, that is not a good sign.

it seems as though they are sleeping a lot during the day

their tails will curl up and unless they are just closing their eyes and basking they are sleeping.

they fall asleep right when the lights go out and wake up right when they turn on.

honestly, that is not normal and can be a sign of illness. Incorrect lighting can also be the culprit. Chameleons do NOT sleep during the day.
