So many people are just making a post asking for help over the same regular stuff instead of actually using the great resources listed here. I wish to hell this website was around back when I was first learning how to keep my animals alive, but the internet wasn't born yet.
 
Bump. And a well deserved bump, too.

We have a ton of new members that may not realize the massive wealth of information here that can be trusted and easily followed for successful chameleon keeping.

Don't reinvent the wheel, kids. This knowledge was hard earned by some very great people who forged the way when no one knew very much about chameleons at all except that they died quick.

The Care section is amazing.

Remotes... we only had three channels and that dial that you turned to see if there were any UHF feeds that would come in. I think the first remote was created when my older brother threw something at me and said, "Change the channel."
 
Lol....how about color TV...I remember are first color TV my father was bragging to everyone we had a color TV funny it look like are old one..Tell he turn it on Wow....:eek: then i noticed that the sky was green and the grass was blue and everything in between was yellow.:confused: So he got up off the couch went to the TV peeled off this 3 color plastic wrap and turned it a around look to me and my mom and said their all fix now.:ROFLMAO:.... those were the days...
 
I think all us old farts are going to scare off the youthful and enthusiastic new keepers trying to figure how to get their chameleon to actually like them.

The point is, it doesn't matter if they like you, what matters is that you are successful in keeping them alive longer than a Pet store record of 4 months. Use that link, use the incredible resources listed there to help you take care of your new animal, instead of some people whining about how nobody will post on your thread and help you. I'm tired of seeing the wheel re-invented and people refusing to use the resources available concerning basic basic stuff.
 
Sometimes I wonder if some sort of a banner message for the forum could flash up directing viewers searching for answers to check the info link BEFORE starting a thread with those basic husbandry questions. I know lazier instant gratification type people expect web communities to drop everything and answer their questions instead of doing the research themselves, but it would save time and frustration...as well as speed up the help their cham probably needs.

It wouldn't make a difference. I run an online support group. I have guidelines right at the top of my page that answers most everyone's questions and if not it tells them how to find the answer on their own. It's pointless. People either don't read it or chose to ignore it. They want the answers spoon fed to them. I too enjoy your signature line. There are many times I would like to slinky some people.
 
We are also a site that allows for dialogue and a certain social interaction. For many, these questions are their first time ever on a forum page and they just don't know how to use it. Answering these kinds of questions over and over may be tiring at times, but the advice from actual keepers will be better than just reading a caresheet for many.

As for color TV, that first happened when I didn't change the channel for my older brother and he beat me up. Some red blood hit the screen...

Ditto! I think that Batman and the Flintstones were the first color shows I saw once my dad repaired a broken color TV that someone threw out. I forgot Gilligan's Island.
