To Much UVB ?

hey guys

For my 7 month old Panther I just got a new T5HO hood and have a 22" 5.0 UVB and a 22" 6.5k lighting for plants. For his basking my panther has a 75 watt bulb. I was interested in changing the 75 watt for a 100 watt mercury vapor bulb. This is all in a 24 x 24 x 48 repti breeze

My thinking on this was making sure he had UVB all the time if he isn't hiding or trying to get shade. He has plenty of cover and places to hide but I just want to know if while he is running around the upper part of his cage, is a 22" 5.0 UVB and a Mercury bulb to much UVB.

Thanks a ton for all the help guys

That T 5 HO should be plenty of UVB, it's good that the chameleon can go into shady areas and regulate its own UVB exposure they know what they need.

You run either or, not both. If you wanted too you could run a 35-75 watt halogen, and a 10.0 if you wanted to double the over all output. The cham needs to regulate both heat and uv exposure. You are not giving it a choice if you go merc+T5 HO.

But even with a 10 its putting out very little at 24".
