Hi!

I have just purchased my first chameleon - veiled.

The place i bought her from recommended an exo-terra waterfall to enchourage her to drink.

She had one in her enclosure at the shop.

I have since heard that these are a bad idea.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

I vote not to waterfall. They just harbor bacteria so get a driper instead and mist 2 to 3 times a day

Yeah unless you literally change the water EVERYDAY but even then you have to worry about the crickets or other feeders drowning in there and such. There shouldn't be any sort of water dish or anything to avoid these things. misting their enclosure for 3-5 minutes 2-3 times a day is the best way to encourage them to drink.

Great Thanks!

Can i hand mist? I have been to a few places today and cant find any sort of equipment sold for this purpose!

Can i order online?

You can order from www.mistking.com for a system.

Hand misters you can usually find in the plant sections (or greenhouse) of just about any store. These are pump style usually used for chemical spraying but are great for hand misting.

Yeah you can hand mist. Just go to the store and buy a spay bottle unless you have the money to spend on a automatic misting system.

Spray bottles are more than adequate as long as you spray at least twice a day.
The next step up is a pump sprayer (usually about $10 for the no frills small type), just make sure it is new and no pesticides were used in it. This saves your hand from getting carpal tunnel syndrome :D.
Automisters are the way to go because it is consistant....set it to go off 3 to 4 times a day for 2 to 10 minutes and you will have a happy cham. You can go off on weekend trips without worrying about your pet getting dehydrated. Yes they are pricey, but IMO are worth every penny.

Yes i hand mist heavily 3-4 times a day with a spray bottle. I vote no for the waterfall, causes bad bacteria that could harm your cham and we dont want that :(

Stopped at the pet store today. Not a chain, just the best one in Clarksville.. However..they had a baby veiled for 79.99. I felt BAD.. It was trying to climb out of the tank. Yes it was glas, no UVB, and waterfall in the tank. No food either..:( Sigh..
