Unfortunately I don't live where a tort could be out year round so I need to go with something smaller and can be housed inside. Gotta say though, the sulcutas are pretty sweet looking.
My brother and his wife found a young sulcata walking along the highway in central Utah one November a couple of years ago. Unbelievable because it had already been cold at night. Eventually they found the foolish owner and gave it back.
Depending on where you are in Utah- how about russian torts? They might be able to overwinter in some parts of the state... If not outdoors, then maybe in a garage or cellar...
I think leopards get too big too. I've seen quite large one's before.
Redfoots even get kind of large for indoors unless you've got something like 4'x8' of floorspace somewhere for an indoor pen and then something larger for outdoors when it is warmer. I kind of think the dry utah air might be kind of hard on redfoots though. Maybe not on an irrigated lawn though...
