i forgot the rule on this. i've got a veiled cham about 5 or 6 months and i feed him crickets. i feed the crickets Nature Zone Total Bites for feeder insects. it says it's an "all in one diet with Spirulina Vitamins and Minerals."

do i still need to do the whole dustings with calcium and and that D3 thing (i'm not sure if that's what it was exactly) or is everything fine as long asx i keep feeding the crickets this?

i have no idea what they are but ussaly store brands arnt very good...all natural is the best way imo

I have a veiled a little younger than yours. I use the same product. It says on the box that you should also dust with calcium.

Total Bites is an easy way to gutload feeders. You could use it for your everyday food source, I did for quite a while. You will know when the crickets are gutloaded, as thier abdomens will be neon green. I now feed the feeders a combination of goodies as the total diet can get expensive when you have 3000 crickets on hand. Total diet reminds me of the protien shakes I would drink when I was body building. They provide all the needed amounts of protien, vitamins, amino acids...etc. But many will argue that obtaining those key aminos, and protiens from natural foods is 10X better. I'll let you decide on that one... If you have the coin, Total Diet would be fine. You still need to follow a regular dusting regimine when using any gutload.

cool cool thanks. would you recommend a particular brand? and is the D3 thing different than the calcium thing?

This is for a veild or panther chameleon:

Rep-cal Calcium w/o D3(green label), for regular feedings, dust light 6x a week.

Rep-Cal Calcium w/ D3(pink label), use bi-monthly, light dusting

Rep-Cal Vitamite(blue label), use bi-monthly, light dusting

alrght thanks for that :) now i've gotta post a thread with my new set up to get some feedback and everything'll be gravy hopefully

Any feedback from people who use this? I have been using this for a month and also throwing in veggies too. Just seems like an easy way to get some more stuff in the crickets and have them get some moisture as well.

it's okay, though not the best. I would either make your own dry gutload or buy some cricket crack. It's very very good for your reptiles and is inexpensive (and way way less expensive than total bites.) Then just throw in some extra veggies and you're set!

I just bought the big jar so I'm stuck with it for a long time heh heh. I think I'll mix it with cricket crack if I ever get around to ordering some. And of course my veggies!

I use Total Bites for all my crickets. It's expensive, but I keep in the fridge and it's always on hand.

i just bought a big jar last week so ill be using it until its gone. but so far so good. i was using fruits to give my crickets moisture but this is easier and i find that crickets like hard foods better.

I have read that if your cham gets at least an hour a day of natural sunlight that you do not need to supplement with D. But if you keep your cham inside that bi weekly supplementation is the way to go.
