Translucent Veiled Chameleons

Here are some pictures Julie (Chams1) took of some trans veileds I hatched out last year.
I sent them to her (apparently to have her grow them for me) and how they have flourished in her care!
They are in a box now on the way back here.
They are between 5 and 6 months old now.
Thought I would share Julie's pictures since I am without a camera right now and any pics from me will be taken with the photo booth webcam.

Ha Ha!
I don't think so ... ( the breeding veileds part)
They are being sent back for a show.
Although, things may change when I see them in person. ;)

Will there be a link or something? Man, I am wishing I could be back there this year for the show. :(

I'm pretty sure you might change your mind with at least one of them, Brad. The first pic is the one I REALLY wanted to keep. But, alas, as you can see from my recent posts, there is NO room at the inn.:D

Do the chromatophores in the albino regions have any colour changing abilities or are they completely devoid of pigments?
Also has it effected the pigments in their eyes?

They must be pretty susceptible to sunburn!

Interesting little chaps. :)

No color changing ability in the areas that have no color.
Eyes are normal.
No problems have been reported with sun or artificially produced UVB.
Remember that this is a naturally occurring mutation.

They arrived this morning in BEAUTIFUL condition!
Thanks again Julie!
I am really proud of them but Julie gets all the credit for getting them big and healthy!

I really don't understand one thing......altho they are very nice, I wonder what the point of breeding color out of the cham is. I thought the idea was to get MORE color, not less. And also, would this make the chameleon more stressed as they can't blend in as well??

You're very welcome, Brad!!

This was a natural thing that happened in the wild. The translucent was not "bred" into them.

They are not "more stressed" frankly, I don't think they realize they are translucent. ;)
As Julie said this is a naturally occurring mutation that was discovered in wild animals.
I have wanted to breed translucents ever since I first saw one and I will tell you it is pretty exciting!
Every egg has a little surprise inside ... they are all different!
The appearance of these animals is not for everyone (I think they are beautiful!) but they are not sick or compromised in any way.

BTW Julie, They all drank, ate and pooped within the first 30 minutes of being back here!
Can't ask for more than that!:D

Sexy, sexy, sexy chameleon!

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I thought it was intentionally done.
