Transporting Long Distance

I have this little guy I adopted a little over a month ago (his name is Spaghetti). Pretty sure he has MBD. I have been searching for an exotic vet close to me to get him seen. There is a vet about an hour away that will see him and take over his care once he has been seen by a specialist. The closest specialist is almost 2 hours away. I’m going to call tomorrow and try to set up an appointment. My question is how do I transport him that far without stressing him out to badly?

I line a shoe box with towels and poke holes in the top. Then I put in a thoroughly cleaned stick. I put him in and close the top so it’s dark and he’ll relax/sleep most of the trip. Hope that helps!

@Gingero has a great video on this if you need a visual. :)

This is how I transport my chameleons. I also have the zoomed probe thermometer to help me make sure the inside of the box doesn’t get too hot or cold for them while they are in there.

Also, thank you for going above and beyond for Spaghetti ❤️❤️

Thank you so much! I will do all I can for this guy. If we are going to take the responsibility of caring for them, then vet care should be minimum. Even if it means a long drive. Hopefully it won’t be a long wait for him to be seen 🤞

I still have some changes that I need to make with his husbandry like the cage size and plants, and that will be done asap. Money is tight and he needs the vet trip first so I’m doing what I can. I like to think that I’ve already improved his situation a lot and that it is making a difference.

Got him in to see a specialist on the 10th ☺️ it’s about 100 miles away but it’s the closest I could find
You are amazing! Please keep us updated on how everything goes.
