True Katydid info.

Kind of amazing normally the best I have done for collecting Katydids is 3-4 a night. 30-40 thats kind of amazing. I have got to go collecting around 1-2:30 am in the blackberry bushes.

So I've got 4 hold backs this summer. I usually just feed them off as I find them, but I've got the breeding bug now. I think I can raise them year around in my climate. Here's a couple of pics. Just had one shed, so must be doing something right in captivity.

I know my carpet chams love the small nymphs. And they are a great soft bodied feeder. Good luck breeding them. I just dont have the time or patience for it. I catch mine and feed em off the next day. I havent had much luck giving mine crick crack. They do love the romaine though.

Most species are leaf eaters. I have been feeding rose leaves, raspberry leaves, and small slices of banana. I have seen them eat Mulberry leaves to.

I grabbed some blackberry bramble on Wed when I caught some hoppers and katydids. I usually feed that and the romaine. Ive got to buy myself a mulberry tree as that seems to be a great food source for multiple feeders. Has anyone ever used one in an enclosure or a green house? Seems like it would be a great addition to a cage as any feeders that werent eatten would stay gut loaded.

That would be me. I have 4 potted trees, (2 fruiting) in 7 x7 x7 enclosures. You can just place silkworms on the branches and leaves, and let the chams do a little hunting for them.

I figured you would have thought of that bro... That sounds great. I may go to the nursery this weekend and pick one up. Everythings 50% off now that its the end of the season. I picked up two 5ft ficus for free range time for only 10 bux apiece a cpl of weeks ago. I love end of summer prices. The damn potts cost me twice what the plants did. lol

my chams love locusts and get all excited hunting them..i suppose that is a bonus of living in england..i am trying to breed them at the moment and it is quite costly breeding them..Petkel..

I have got some blackberry, strawberry and other plants that insects are fond of eating in my greenhouse. All of which I'm going to grow year round. Would love to make my greenhouse big enough that I could grow adult Mulberry Trees with leaves year round.
