Turn off basking light?

Hello all. If the ambient temp in the room is around 82-85 degrees, should I still leave the basking light on for my 3.5 month old Panther? It's a 50 watt on a 24" high cage. I tried replacing with a 25 watt butt the temp still gets 90 up top. Should I just leave the uvb on? Thanks in advance.

Control your basking light with a timer...it can come on in the morning for a warm up, then turn off at about the time the room will get too warm. He'll only need the UVB then.
