Twisted arm

HI,

My chameleon lola has a twisted front arm. She can use it, but it looks backwards. She's currently laying eggs as well. I've removed everything from her tank except some substrate for her to lay the eggs and some low foliage for her to hide in and feel secure. Uvb bulb has been replaced, calcium on crickets and other feeders.

She has broken her leg before so I set up her tank in the same way for the mending process.

Basically, is there anything else I should he doing for her while her twisted up leg heals?

I am not taking her to a vet, I have a kid on the way ad can't spend the couple hundred on x rays and what not right now.

Don't even bother posting about a vet visit, seriously.

This is animal cruelty. For the life of me I don't understand some people and what they put their animal through

Are you insane? This IS advice from a vet? Damn those knowledgeable bastards...

Your aware how mbd works right? With splints and casts? And breaks above and below the affected area?

So as I'm limiting her from possibly falling while she heals up, what other advice would you give?

Maybe I went about word g this incorrectly. She can use her arm, has fantastic grip as well. It appears that she has mbd as it's a bit twisty, I'm attempting to fix that situation. I don't want her to strain herself while she is laying eggs. Is there anything anyone can recommend while she's getting better. Maybe other supplements that could help her with this disease.

Yes I am aware of how MBD works and if she was being treated properly she would be turning around. Get a GOOD reptile vet

I am so sorry to hear about your chameleon. A vet would put her on liquid calcium and give her an injection to draw the calcium back into the bones. I highly recommend you consider giving her to a chameleon rescue if you can't afford medical care for her. I have kept chameleons for 10 + years and the best chameleon rescue is ChamEO. I recommend you contact Elisa there and see if she will take in your girl. She has vets and she will get her all fixed up and find her a kind and loving forever home. It want cost you a thing. She mails you a shipping label and you would ship her to this beautiful chameleon facility. Give Elisa a call and talk to her. You will really like her. http://www.chameo.org

Again fill out the how to ask for help form and please post some pics. Buthe really you should give her to someone that can take care of her correctly

Gotcha, I found a vet near me and I'll be taking her there after work.

Thanks for the info and take care.

Twisted arm, has (had) MBD, laying eggs...
Your girl needs calcium (shots)!

If you explain the situation to the vet he can maybe start treatment straight away without doing Xrays first and maybe even offer a payment plan...

Separate question while I have the attention of a few of you. Howany eggs should she pop put by the end of everything?

I'm not an eggspert (pun intended) but that also depends on how warm you've kept her and possibly her diet... It's recommended to keep females on the cool side since they will lay smaller clutches of eggs that way...

It could be anywhere from 20-70 eggs

You also need a bucket for her to lay her eggs in with sand and soil mixed together she won't do it and substrate in the bottom of her cage

What are you doing to treat the MBD?. You said her leg broke once before...if she has another broken leg, then what you are doing does not sound like it is working.:( I cannot imagine the poor chameleon trying to dig a hole for her eggs with a broken leg.
