Uh oh, surprise!

So our girl has been her perfect grumpy self the last few days. She laid a clutch of 64 eggs in Oct but has put back on her weight and was looking healthy.

Then yesterday I notice (while she's up on some branches) there's 3 very small eggs on the bottom of the cage. This was quite a shock. She didnt look gravid, wasn't showing through her colours nor was she wandering the bottom like the pervious 2 clutches.

So I promptly put the laying bin in her cage. She got in, dug her whole and slept in the bin while laying. This morning she was wondering around so I checked the bin and sure enough there was 34 eggs.

Now here's the thing though, some were slightly dented, and very very tiny, some are double the size of others and some are yellowish. Could this be a retained clutch vs them copulating again?

Her pervious clutches were 40 and 64. And both times the eggs were all nice and big and plump.

She was with Dude a little over a month ago but he was super aggressive and I removed her to avoid stress and potential damage to either of them.

Ugh poor lil girl. I feel bad that I didn't know she was going to lay :/. Normally I prep her cage with her bin so she's all comfortable.

I would begin to incubate them just in case.

SOme females can triple clutch fertile eggs, but the last clutch may not have as many fertiles in it as the first one or two did.

FYI- she should have access to her lay bin 24/7.

IF her cage isnt big enough, get her a bigger cage.

You got lucky, but by not having her egg bin in when she was ready, it can cause egg binding.

Just impo.

Yea her cage is big enough to have the laying bin in all the time. Like I said normally I put it in there well before.

Lesson learned for sure.

And I have them all in the incubator just in case already.

Her first clutch of 40 hatched 29+1 died while hatching. There's still 3 eggs left in the incubator that haven't molded or anything.
