Does any body on here who is from the uk know of any breeders of veiled chameleons in hull or nearby because even though im not looking at purchasing a chameleon until January, I am struggling to find where I will get him from, there are pet shops around me that sell reptiles but the 2 that do chameleons I don't want to buy from, one looks after there reptiles really well but the state of there small animals is awful and i am not willing to buy from a place that does not car for all there animals, the second had chameleons but no veiled and the ones they did have they had 2 in the enclosure and one looked healthy but the other was hunched on a branch dark brown not moving for ages with sunken eyes, Ive never had a chameleon and don't have experience with them but i didn't think that chameleon was well or it was extremely stressed.
and the other was walking on the bottom clawing at the glass maybe wanted out but maybe the temps were too high.
So basically Im stumped at where i can find a chameleon from, I don't want one posted to me because I want to see my animal up close before i buy to check everything is ok and healthy.

I'm from the uk and don't really see many breeders advertising. Maybe try google to search in your area? Good luck.

There's www.chameleonden.co.uk I think it's called. Based in Yorkshire. Not sure they do veileds or just panthers. Worth checking out. The other big one is muji world or something like that, but is in Oxfordshire.

Global Geckos in Surrey have their own breeding program. Excellent to deal with . Very knowledgable . Not like your average reptile shop. Shipped mine to Aberdeen in Scotland. Would defiantly use them again.

We were having the same problems as you clairebear, in that a couple of pet shops offered to order a veiled chameleon from their wholesalers. However we really wanted to be able to view him/her before buying and declined their offers.

After some online searching we found that Lincoln Reptile and Pet Centre had approximately 15 available that they had bred themselves. Although we live 45 miles from Lincoln (roughly the same distance as yourself in Hull), we made the decision to travel over to Lincoln and it was definitely worthwhile as they had the males and females separated in different enclosures and we were able to choose our own male chameleon.

This was at the end of October and now, at just over 4 months old, our chameleon is tame and friendly and walks out onto our hands at every opportunity.

We may simply be lucky, but I'm sure part of the reason for him being so tame is that in the pet shop the enclosures were next to the door and had people walking past continuously, so from a very young age they were used to seeing human beings.

One final word, as they're a pet shop I'm not sure whether they have a continuous breeding program so I would suggest you give them a call to check .

You should look up Repxotics in shepton mallet. He is excellent! He has veilds but unsure if he will currier them. If he doesn't then he may put you forward too his breeder which may currier them

This is my boy I got from him! A panther I know!

Thank you for your post it really helped I am considering driving to somewhere a bit further for the sake of being able to see the chameleon before I buy

I work at the purple pet centre on the A22 near Crawley/east grinstead way and we have baby panthers and some yemens/veiled. But I'd guess that's a bit too far to travel.
