Underbite?

So I have a Veiled who is 6 months old. He had a bone disease when I first got him, but I took care of him. He is now eating and climbing very well. His legs are still crooked, but I know they won't heal completely. I was wondering about something new I have recently noticed. He seems to have an under bite forming and his casque isn't growing upward. Like I said, he is eating and climbing just fine. Could this just be genetic, or could something be wrong with him?

How are you treating his metabolic bone disease? The stunted casque and the misshapen mouth is also caused from the disease. Is that the chameleon in your avatar?

I am feeding the crickets papaya, collared greens, and mustard greens. I am also putting Calcium dust with D3 on it every week plus some vitamin liquid by fluukers. His legs haven't gotten any worse, they healed up quite a bit, just not all the way. Yes, this is the same chameleon in my avatar.

The pic in your avatar is small but that chameleon does not appear to have MBD and certainly does not have the mouth problem. There must be something in your set up and care causing him to get worse. Have you been using calcium all along since you have owned him? Also, what about uvb lighting??. MBD is caused by lack of calcium, uvb or a combination of both.

When I first got him, I was not as prepared as I thought I was, but now I've learned the proper things to do. I have a 10 UVB bulb that is on about 12-16 hours a day. I have talked with the lady at the pet store that has raised a few chameleons herself. She helped me set up his cage and diet properly

I would recommend you fill out the how to ask for help form at the top of the health clinic page. A 10.0 bulb is OK if you have a heavily planted enclosure. Also pet stores are notorious for giving out incorrect information. I agree that this cham has some MBD going on; you say you are treating it but how and it may not be effective if this jaw/casque issue is a recent development.

Sorry to see that your Chameleon has MBD. I recommend you give him liquid calcium gluconate or calcium sandoz. Liquid calciums are supposed to be absorbed more easily. You can get this calcium from your vet or maybe the drug store. The link below is how I have successfully raised veileds.
