unusual behaviour?

Hi, I just bought my new panther at a reptile expo a couple of weeks ago. I was just wondering what might be considered unusual behavior since I am new to Chams and don't know what usual behavior would be.
I am aware that my setup is not ideal for the moment, I am currently housing Maurice in a glass tank there are 3" diam. cut outs on 2 sides for circulation and a screen top (This helps humidity in dry winter months, I am having a screen cage built for the near future). He is about 4 months old I am using a heat bulb and uvb bulb over top and mist regularly when not at work during the day.
He has been crawling on the screen upside down quite a bit and has slept like that a couple of times too. eats regularly, except for today, and no problem drinking. He doesn't move much although I do have some vines, a ficus and pothos in his housing. Is this too much stuff? Is he acting "normal"?
almost forgot; Poops daily and stays next to the UVB bulb most of the time, he'll even climb the screen top to get near it, wouldn't that harm his eyes?

Thanks

Yes, if its a compact, it will blind him. You need a 5.0 reptiglo TUBE (the long skinny ones), not a compact. If you have this, then no, it wont hurt him. Leo kept hanging upside down and I was told to level out his vine horizontally and no more than 5 inches from the bulb and once I did, he hasnt felt the need to get any closer to the light. It will take him a few days to relax and get comfy. No the more safe plants the better. Helps with humidity and might even nibble here and there. Glass isnt the greatest so glad you are doing better soon. If you notice him darkening alot near the glass or puffing up, its time to move on as he is seeing his reflection and getting stressed. What are feeding him? Are you dusting the feeders? Are you handling him a lot? HOw long are you at work for that he is going without water?

man what a waste of 40$! haha.
well i am going to see if there is anyway to return it or exchange it. (eventhough its opened..?)

well i just called petco and they have no problem giving my money back since i have the receipt, perfect! petco is great! :)

They will return your money - try going to lllreptile.com they have cheaper bulbs for the most part.

Glad you addressed the UVB bulb problem ahead of time before problems developed.

yeah im glad, i thought most places only returned unopened items.
well i would go to the website, but id hate to have to wait to the shipping since they Need the light right?

If you paid $40 for that, then I dont see wy you would have an issue with the 28$ it is for the right one (thats petmart). yea, LLLreptile carries them for 13 but tack on shipping and the wait.. eh, unless you are buying a lot from them, I dont see the point..just me though. Return it, get the right one, and hopefully that helps ya.:)

alright so i bought a light that is the long tube ones and it comes with the whole thing to plug it into and it has 7%uvb.
they just exchanged it. other wise i would have to buy the bulb for 50 and the light fixture for 30..

and i bought some jungle vine thing which looks pretty cool too

Wow.. Thats an expensive store ya got there...

Glad you got the right one, and some extra vines too.:)

Thanks for the info, I will be changing the light tomorrow. as for feeding yes I am dusting with calcium d3 and vitamins. I am cup feeding and put 8-12 crickets in his cup in the morning some are left at the end of the day, but not many. I am at work for about 8 hours but my wife gets home earlier so he is alone for about 6-7 hours. And no we do not handle him alot, try to avoid it as much as possible, some times he tries to get out so we have to let him climb on us then redirect him.

What is the wattage on his basking bulb? I would be cautious if he is hanging upside down underneath it. You don't want him to burn himself.

Did you buy the Reptisun 5.0? or was it another brand that was a linear bulb?

I do check the basking temp regularly with a temp gun, I usually place a piece of paper on the top of the screen under the basking lamp (it's on a stand and is elevated a bit), then take the temp of the paper nothing over 92 degrees ever.

I think that is kind of high for a baby. I would use a lower watt Bulb. I use a 60Watt and it never goes above 89.7 or below 85.9.
Do you have pics of his setup anywhere on the forum?

ha ha ha ha all you have to do is look at the website..............petco ha ha ha they are as i have stated in many forums terrible with all animals and murderers, whether it is intentionally or unintentionally they seem to be very good at killing all types of animals.

haha, well i bought my light and vines from there, hope my cham doesnt die!:p
