URGENT! Doesn't stick her tongue out

Your girl is not of egglaying age but you will need to prepare a laying bin for her soon. She will probably start to develop eggs from 7 months onward and be ready to lay her first clutch at around 10 months.

I would highly recommend NOT feeding alot of waxworms as they are extremely high in fat. They are better used as a treat once a week. If your girls tummy is bloated it sounds like she may have an impaction.

Do you have any substrate on the bottom of your cage?
Is she closing her eyes?
Have you seen her drink recently?

It is not unusual for your cham NOT to poop/pee in a number of days, but in your case coupling that with a bloated tummy, it appears she may have an impaction. Are you able to get her to a vet? As mentioned, an impaction can be deadly if not treated.

...

First of all Thank you so much for the advices!
So finally she pooped today! But the amount wasn't as much as I thought she will produce. So it was about a little bit more than the usual. I checked it and there was nothing else in it.
I switched the UVB, so it is 5.0 now. I changed the cornmeal, that makes sense! Cornmeal was a bad idea. Oatmeal is good? I have strawberries, grape, apple, carrot right now.
Ok, so no waxworm every day.
Unfortunately she doesn't want to even look at the fruits... She doesn't really move much in the last two days. But it is probably because of her tummy.
She drinks almost every day,I give her water from a dropper.
I use towel on the bottom of the cage as long as she is that young. I didn't want her to pick up anything.
She is not closing her eyes!
I will call the vet but I am pretty sure they have no idea about chameleons....
Oh,at night no lamp is on, it is dark. The temperature is about 19 Celsius.
Oh one more thing: I have to keep the waxworms in the fridge?

...

Ok,thank you,I won't keep them in a cold!
Weel my baby pooped today as well!:) It didn't seem easy though, but she made it. And again, there was nothing in it. So I am just hoping, they were the "cornmeal-ed" crickets!
Oh, she is just pooping right now! Another normal size.Yeeeeeey!:D Such a release!!
I gave her only a few crickets yesterday. Then I bought more and gave them the fruits, vegetables, oatmeal. She got from those crickets today.
So I am hoping the best!!!
Does any body now if I want to order the Mist King Starter Misting System, should I order the "Plus Pack" too? Do I need anything else for it?

Thank you!

This is fantastic news that she is pooping now! So happy for you! If you are going to order a MistKing for your Cham, and you have only one (that will change, lol) I think the basic starter kit is good enough! I have the basic system and run 5 cages off it so it is definitely enough for one cage!

So happy your girl is feeling better!

That is great! Who would think that folks could get so excited over Poo?! I am glad things are moving through. I am jealous I want to get an aquazamp but have to pay other bills first:(.

...

Thank you!
Yes I was Pretty excited about that. :)
I wasn't sure,aquazamp or mistking,but somehow I have chosen mistk.
And this is going to be the bank's money, not mine. :)
Yesterday her/his tongue couldn't stick out again. But than she/he fixed it. So now I am trying not to make a big deal about it,otherwise I will loose my hair...

I went with mistking to lol sometimes my cham will stick just the boney part of his tongue out before he strikes his prey then put it back in his mouth and decide not to go for it. If your chams tongue isn't working properly I suspect that might be the result of a incorrect supplement schedule. I haven't read the whole thread but if you had a incorrect supplement schedule and recently made changes to to it the tongue thing might/should resolve on its own soon.

...

Thanks!
Yes I changed the schedule I know I overdosed my cham with D3 and multi. I gave her every day... But since last Tuesday I stopped and use only calcium.
But mine did the same thing,as you described yours. She/he is hungry and tries to catch the cricket, but only the bone comes,so she/he leaves it for a while.
But I noticed that she/he usually does this when it is feeding time and runs for the crickets actually, tries to eat them one by one and just can't. :(
I wait patiently until the overdosing wears off...

tongue issue

Hello everyone,

so my cham's tongue doesn't work better yet..How long should I wait til the supplementation works out itself? I stopped multi and D3 in 11 days, only Calcium I use every day for every crickets.
And about 3 days ago (just because life would be boring otherwise) that her/his left eye is itchy, she /he scratches it sometimes and keeps rarely that eye closed for couple seconds. I didn't change anything but the supplements.
But everything seems normal, except she/he drinks more. I offer her water several times a day and usually drinks.

Thank you for the help!

Just to add on what everyone said you should try to order some horned or silk worms they are great feeders and easy to care for. Along with the my natural gut load I use bug burger and my feeders seem to love it!

I use the same supplements as you do and I keep track of it by my pay day :D every 2 weeks D3 and Mulivitamin. I would not suggest using anything in the water they do not work very well, and they change the taste of the water which will make them not want to drink it dyhdration can also cause impaction.

Golem does the whole sticking the tongue out and keeps it out for a bit and pulls it back almost like licking his lips when he is about to eat or hungry.

But if you are still worried I would go to the vet even if it was to give you peace of mind. Best of luck to you and your little girl!

Does she ever strike at the prey and miss? I'm not a vet, but check to see if the supplements you were giving have Vit A in them. If not, it COULD be a vitamin A deficiency which is really easy to fix. Try adding more carrots to the cricket gutload. To cure Mr.Pink of his Vit A deficiency we had to drop cod liver oil on a cricket each day for a week.

re

Thank you guys!
I'll give only water then.
Well the vitamin has vitamin A in it...And I always give the crickets carrots.
I don't know what is going on with her/his eye..It doesn't seem infected, looks totally like the other one,but keeps only that eye closed sometimes. Has appetite, drinks a lot and pretty active but likes to take a rest(not sleeping).
She/he strikes at the prey, but lately from very close, (but I think it is because of the tongue issue) and I see the bone, but the tongue doesn't stick out with the bone. ( I hope that makes sence!) And by the second try everything works just perfectly.
Unfortunately we don't have cham vet here. Doesn't really know anything about them.
