Uv for my cham

It's a chance kind of thing. Some chams go blind, others don't. Your best bet is to change it.

well after discussing i have rided myself of the large woodchips ...i have put down paper towls instead.

Exo-Terra Glass Terreriums are not designed for larger species, such as adult veileds and panthers, but these enclosures can house smaller species, babies and juveniles quite well! You need to be careful about watering in these enclosures, however, because you want the enclosure to dry out between mistings and you don't want standing water. I plant these enclosures with drainage and organic soil. You want to avoid wood chips.

Also, to the best of my knowledge, the Exo-Terra ReptiGlo 5.0 compact fluorescent bulbs have never been implicated in any of the unsafe wavelength issues. Because of their steep gradient and small zone of UVB output, I wouldn't recommend them for large species or tall enclosures but with smaller species and smaller enclosures, I don't have a problem, particularly using a UVB meter to measure radiance levels.

Howdy,

I think you'll find that all of these linear UVB tubes (15" 18" 24" 36" 48") adhere to industry standards for fluorescent tube fixture compatibility. Just make sure that the fixture that you buy supports the wattage as well as the length. The wattage issue comes-up mostly regarding the 48" tubes that are either T8 (1" dia.) or T12 (1.5" dia.) and vary in wattage.

Thanks Dave, the bearer of good news :D That makes things better.

I'll go buy a tube and try it out, it was both a reptile store who told me that.

You said..."the substrate i am using is LARGE chips about the size of the palm of ur hand"...some types of wood contain oils that are toxic to chameleons.
