UV question

Hi all, I’ve had my female veiled for about 2 years now. I was one who originally started with the Petco setup enclosure, but have come a long way haha. I still like to check in to make sure things are good for my girl. Is this UV light too strong? I have it laying across the screen on top of the cage. It’s off now, because she’s asleep. TIA!

If it’s not a good light you think, and it’s too strong, what light would you recommend? I already have the 22inch light fixture to hold the bulbs

Great question to ask! I'm going to suggest a 22" Reptisun T5 5.0 instead of the bulb you're using which is producing a LOT of UVB. It will work with the fixture you have now. Here are some good resources for you to learn more about the different types of UVB.

1. There's a great chart in this link: https://chameleonacademy.com/chameleon-cage-set-up-replicating-the-sun/

2. If you enjoy videos, this explains the difference between a 5.0 and 10.0 and when it makes sense to use each

Super helpful, thank you so much! Going to return and exchange for the 5.0 tomorrow! However it may take a few days to come in, do you think that the 10 will be ok for a few days?

If you can raise the 10.0 up above the enclosure that would be best... but if that's not possible then a few days should be fine.
This is great advice.

your T5 10.0 will be similar to the Arcadia 12% if it’s in a single fixture. You want to raise it up (or switch to the 6%/5.0) so that you don’t expose your cham to unnatural and dangerous levels of UVB.
