UVB

I have heard they can hurt their eyes but do not know if it is 100% true. Also with the coil uvb is only in one spot but with linears it is spread out

I have heard similar and I switched over to the tube style and bruce seems to like it better. Could also try hanging it up off the top of the cage a small distance.

I believe the coil bulb used to put off too bright a light. I also am lead to believe that this has since been corrected. The linear is more effective because it covers a wider area.
At least that is my understanding.

Having said that, I use a coil UVB (for now) and my guy is doing great!

The coil does not spread the UVB out like a regular florescent. The UVB is only in one little spot and if your cham is not in that spot then they are not getting and UVB, but with a regular florescent the UVB spot is much larger and the cham can get more UVB. The Regular florescent luminaire usually have much better reflectors with means that less of the UVB output is being wasted going up.
