how close is my 5 month old male veiled allowed to get to his 5.0 uvb light? there's no plastic between the bulb and the screen cage. there's a fake plant directly under the light where he likes to hang out occasionally. should i raise the light up a few inches?

the repti sun 5.o (linear) bulbs are effective up to 6-8 inches away through screen.

but is it ok for him to be less than an inch away from the light?

it should be like 6inches away from him otherwise it will hurt his eyes
