uvb10.0

is it to much light?
i swear i had read about people using them...

im not asking whats best just if it works....

or is it really a death bulb?

lol

No, but its all ive got. She gets sunlight about 4 out of her 12 hrs. The rest of the time she has the option of being near/far as well as out of it completely, Ill be switching to 5.0 soon though...

Are you saying careful with using the bulb in general, or with letting the cham self regulate uvb? What exactly is the risk? Am I cooking my cham?

Careful with the 10.0.. they are made for Desert animals, not tree dwelling creatures that live in rainforests. That's why there are 2 different types of bulbs. you may be burning the chams eyes.. If your cham can get away from it completely, then I'd be "ok"...but i'd change the bulb asap.

If the cham receives 4 hrs a day of unfiltered sunlight there is no need for any uv lights.
The 10.0 is fine, just illuminate part of the cage so there is shade on one side. You can raise the bulb 3-4 inches or place another layer of screen under the bulb to reduce the amount of uv emitted.

Agree - all true and balanced. Care is required, but there are many ways to keep a Cham healthy and happy.....

Some people use a 10.0 because of the material that is at the top of the screen enclosure blocks out a good amount of the UVB penetration. I'm not sure of specifics but I know I've read it somewhere on these forums.

You cab use the 10.0 without a problem. Some people just overreact about the whole 5.0 vs.10.0 but theres no solid facts saying it willkill ur cham. 5.0 has just.worked.for prople thats all.

I use the reptisun 5.0 as well. I was wondering what the10.0 was for. But you have to think that the chamois love sun and it's ok to take them outside to bask in the real sun. The uv from the real sun has to be a lot more than 10.0. I have been taking my Cham outside in the morning pretty often I hope that ok?
