uvb10.0

Yeah real sun is the best for them. I keep my cham.outside all day everyday (when its sunny) n he is healthier.than.ever

I use the reptisun 5.0 as well. I was wondering what the10.0 was for. But you have to think that the chamois love sun and it's ok to take them outside to bask in the real sun. The uv from the real sun has to be a lot more than 10.0. I have been taking my Cham outside in the morning pretty often I hope that ok?
Lol, really good point - why didn't I think of that? Of course more Sun is ok........

I use 10.0's on my larger cages that have a lot more coverage and places to get out of the rays and 5.0's on my smaller cages. 10.0's were also used in my free ranges.

I use a 10.0 on my 260 gal. reptarium only. The Cham is usually 3 ft. below it. 5.0 on all the rest. So I say depends on the enclosure.

3ft ought to do it.......how close is the closest the Cham can get?

So do the 10.0's have a longer range then? I thought very little gets past 12".......?

This website states:

Emits UVB a full 20"/51cm from the surface of the lamp to prevent or reverse metabolic bone disease. (Compared to 12"/30cm on the ReptiSun 5.0). Optimal for use with larger terrariums where greater than 12" of UVB penetration is needed. The ReptiSun 10.0 is also recommended for use above screen covers which can filter out up to 50% of the UVB wavelengths.

Interesting to know, thanks. Going to get a 10.0 soon for my Savannah Monitor.......

ty for all d info

ive tried out the 5.0 and the 10.0 to see what cham does
he goes a little further from the 10.0 bulb and moves closer on 5.0

so they appear to be able to regulate that differintal (sp?) themselves if the enclosure is largee....
so once the 5.0 is kicked im going 10.0

the reason for this is that the 10.0 fixture with bulb was cheaper then a light fixture with no bulb at the store... so figured id capitalize
