I dont own a car. So these things worry me not.
:D If you live close to what you need, ride a bicycle, take transit.... you'll have way more money for the important things in life, like shoes and vodka.

Those are the things I miss from my hometown.
In LA, having no car is equal to having no legs.
Public transportation is quite inaccessible here, unlike SanFran and NY.

And, Yes, I got the increase registration fee as well.

450 dollars wtf??? What kind of vehicle do you have?

My motorcycle registration is 79 buck which is a bit on the high side but nothing too bad.

I have to register my pathfinder. Sounds like it is going to be a nice punch in the face

yeah.. wow. what kind of vehicle do you drive?

I just looked up what my registration would be and it was $184

Are you sporting a BMW or an Escalade? that would do it there.

Mine was $358 last year and I am expecting the renewal in a months time & I know it will significantly more....not looking forward to that. I wonder if its a Cali tax thing?

I aint going to dip into the shoes budget though! :D

I get it now. California government doesn't like huge gas hog vehicles and charges more for registration. Something I looked into when I was going to move to San Diego.

Honestly... and sorry dudes with big trucks..... but.. they don't charge enough.

I hate SUVs and trucks. If you work construction and need a truck you should get a permit... and can own a truck..... but to have a truck as a primary mode of transit.... is.. well.. overkill. They are needed way less than people think. So it makes me wonder why people don't just own a normal pickup and operate a smaller car for everyday driving. I bet it would save money to park a truck most of the year and own a car for daily driving. I mean look at the cost of a truck vs. car.

My main focus is on SUVs... ESPECIALLY when I see ONE person in this MASSIVE SUV. Why? what the fu** is the reason? they mess up the roads, take up more space, they hit smaller cars and then just leave (happened to me twice) and they almost NEVER are full.

I think it is funny when I am driving to work and I pass mostly cars in the carpool lane (two or more people per vehicle) and see an ocean of SUVs in the normal lanes....

Yeah there was an increase in AZ as well.. Dad called and said his went from something like 120$ to 290$..
He loves to exaggerate... one of the reasons I don't talk to him anymore... LOL

I own a truck(4WD), I also have a car, but it's a "toy" and I also own a second fullsize truck(only 2 wheel drive). The biggest of the 3 is the primary driver.

Why you might ask? Because I like trucks, I live in the country, I might just decide to stop by a home depot/lowe's/menards and decide to buy things, I do that a lot. Why should I have to go home just to get the truck(if my primary driver was a car), then make a trip back? That's 20 min. one way, because of where I live. That sounds like a bigger waste of gas, and time, than just driving it in the first place. Also we have a winter here(meaning snow), requiring the use of a 4 wheel drive sometimes. The car couldn't quite haul the quad anywhere I wanted all the time. You're thoughts may be directed mainly at southern californians because that's where you live. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on it from a different location. Also, some people may not be able to afford more than one vehicle, and the uses that a truck provides over a car is what would push them to a truck. I used to have an SUV an 89 jeep cherokee with a rock ready lift kit, also a "toy" but it just wans't able to pull and haul as much stuff as the truck I bought to replace it. I still wish I hadn't sold it though, some days I would just like to be driving it around. Again why??? Sticking with my answer of "Just because I like trucks"

It is more expensive there than here though, I never registered my car there when I lived there, kept it registered in this state(it's not a california legal car, wasn't sold in that state), but I did have to carry insurance there, it was about twice what I payed here. So their regestration costs don't surprise me. I was paying $500/month for full coverage on a single car, that had a lot to do with my driving record though, I have a pretty heavy foot.....

Yes, I am mainly focusing my frustration on major metropolitan areas.

Here you'll see an F-250 lifted like two feet with HUGE swamp tires. It might be a deisel with a Banks kit and SPEWING black smoke because the tard didn't change his differential gears and the huge tires are threatening to crack the transmission wide open.... This same truck will almost NEVER EVER have mud on it from driving around in the mud, why? because we have paved roads here and because huge lifted trucks with huge loud tires is something of a fashion statement, so why get your precious 'toy' dirty?

I don't mean to say ALL trucks are bad.... I know I hate trucks but if I lived out in the country it would be needed and I would suck it up and buy one. I just see sooo many pointless lifted trucks and so many empty SUVs that it makes me sick.

People who say 'its because I can and I live in a country where I can' is kinda silly to me because with the world trying to move to a cleaner place these people are making it harder to get there. Kinda ironic in a way since people who own trucks say they own them because trucks make it easier to move things.....

Edit: about the snow. My reasoning for keeping my Subaru is so that if I need to move back to the east or mid-west I have an AWD car.... hehe. so maybe it is silly.

Its only $665 for that giant?

Should be $1,200! :D:p:D:D

Edit: nice truck though.... im just not a Ford guy... BTW... why not get the extended bed since you already got the extended cab?

The truck isn't a daily driver, infact it only has 20k miles on it. I do pay my dues for road maintainance, a vast majority of the fee is for the weight of the truck. I'm smog exempt FOREVER! Then again the diesel was a $7k upgrade over the gasoilne. As for the short bed, I'd still like to park in normal spots. I decided to get the f-250 over the f-150 cause it had the mega tow capacity and I one day want to buy a travel trailer. I keep my vehicles and take care of them, so why have to upgrade later?

Edit: As for the black smoke diesels blow out, its soot and it settles on the ground. It's the crap that the gasolines put into the air that I'd be more concerned with.
