Veiled and Panther Next to One Another

Hey all. I just ordered a male Nosy Be from the Chameleon Company. His cage is set up right next to my veiled with a divider in between so that they can't see one another. I was wondering if this is necessary due to them being different species of chameleon. I couldn't find anything on this topic and am just curious.

Yes, it is necessary. Each of these species is territorial, and an intruder that never goes away or can't be escaped from is a constant stressor. Some individuals may not care as much as others, but you can't really predict it. Safer to be conservative and reduce the stress on each of them.

I would keep the divider, in my experience they typically react to other species. I have a quad that fires up whenever he sees a female panther even if it's just a walk by the viv.

Ok that's what I figured. I was going to leave the divider up either way just to be on the safe side. No need to take a chance on causing undue stress.

Seriously? That's lretty intresting I wonder if it's a stronger reaction just because it's another species
Like it might trigger a stronger territoral response

It's a territory thing, sure he would react the same to any other Cham unless it was a female quad. They only are in visual range for a few seconds and he reacts to them anytime they are near the front of their enclosures when I walk by to take him outside. They don't seem to mind, no stress colors like if an unwanted male panther is around. They probably feel secure with cage doors closed and are used to me walking by.
