Veiled Cage-Hanging Plants

I have a 260 Reptarium all ready to go w/ live plants but one problem. I have to temporarily keep Queen's cage in our spare bedroom instead of the basement were I live until my bf and our cat move into a new apartment. My mom is neurotic and does not want to hang hooks in the ceiling, so I need to get around it for 4/5 months. i bought a beautiful boston fern, a wandering jew, and another fern I forget the name but I know it is non-toxic, it was on my shopping list. I need some suggestions on how to fix the problem. DIY advice is fine if its not too complicated or expensive. Any ideas are welcome, please let me know.

P.S. My basement is finished, is insulated, and has heat for winter months. Had my CWD over the winter down there and with a little playing around with wattage come dec, everything was cool :p

How about suspending a plank of wood across the top of the cage (where the lights are, and from that dropping lines of steel wire through the cage roof into the cage?

The steel wire can then be attached to the basket hooks of the hanging plants.

You can get galvanised steel wire that would probably be thin enough to fit through the mesh (although I don't know how fine the mesh is on those Reptariums), but is still strong enough to support the weight of the plants.

Granted, I made my own cage, so I don't know what you are trying to attach to... but I screwed in eye hooks on the inside 2x2 top posts and then ran a thick twine between the 2 in order to hang my pothos.

This serves not only to hold the pothos, but as a high perch as well!
