Veiled Chameleon Came in Today - Advice

dont take the crickets out just put a piece of orange in the cage and change often that way he can eat when your not around and dont worry about chirps as the crickets are too young. also this saves you time and then if you still feel like taking them out you could just leave the orange slice or other veggie in there in case you missed one i do this and feed about 20 crickets every day but every third day i feed nothing and let him hunt what is left it makes the crickets a little easier to find for him since he is in a cage that is on the big side. your choice but this way you know that even if you miss one that it is gonna want the fruit over him

Ditto---- thats what I do each and every night with a newbie !!! Perfect response!

thats her

edit: or what shes supposed to "evolve" into

The veiled in that picture (Newton) is a male. If you have a female, she wont turn out like him! This is just for your knowledge.

She wont be quite as colorful as a male, thats all. This is what a female typically looks like and a male more like newton or the one in my avatar.

Females can be pretty too, just not as colorful. Seems like the males are always prettier in animals, reptiles! I sure am glad we are not in the human species!!!

bahaha
i just wish i knew what a newton cham female would look like though.. i was really looking forward to the male colours, i didn't think it would be so drastic

So they don't nibble on your cham while he or she is asleep. Also, they are dreadfully annoying if they are chirping in there all night.

Do most of you guys take out crickets every night? I never did that with my vieled I bought as an adult.

i usually only put the amont of crickets he eats daily in there. but i ALWAYS put a piece of fruit or veggie in there when i turn the lights out just in case he missed a cricket or a few. then i remove the piece of food in the morning

I got a male from Newton, he is doing MUCH better today. I hand fed him 5 crix, and found he really does not like cup feeding, he likes to hunt. He can shoot across the cage quickly and get crix with ease now.

He was still dark most of the day, he really lit up when I fed him in the morning though.
