Is it normal for my 3 months old male Veiled to be eating his own shed? Also, is this good or bad for him?

Sorry for the double post, my internet lagged the first post.

I would say it is normal. My Leo's and cresties do it as well. I don't think it is particularly good for them but it doesn't do them any harm.

Thanks Kate! I've only had Kiddo for about 3 weeks now and he had shed twice and this is the first time I've seen him eat his own shedding :)

As he gets older he will shed in little pieces. Your viv will look as if he has been attacked by I pencil sharpener.LOL

My male veiled Stanley did it several times up to about 6 months. I was told it was a pretty normal occurrence...

She'd is good for them. It contains either calcium or vitamin b am not sure. But it contains something. Someone please let me know if I'm wrong thanks.

Smeagol likes to pick the shed skin off his feet and hands and eat it :D

He also snags the little pieces of shed that fall off him as he is cruising around.
Most of my leopard geckos would eat there skin too, so yeah, I would say its normal :)

My veiled eats his shedded skin also, first time I saw him I thought "yuck, could you imagine eatin your sunburn peel, eeeewwww"

It's very normal! Not only does it speed up the shedding process, since they're pulling it off faster than it would fall off, but it's thought that this way the animal does not leave a long scent trail of little skin pieces that lead straight to it.

So don't worry, it's just skin so it's absolutely harmless.

Wow, I didnt think of that!!
I wonder how many generations of evolution it took for them to figure that out!? :D
