Veiled Chameleon Hatchling

I just had my first hatchling. It is so small. It took about 4 hours after I noticed. I picked him up after it was out of the egg. It was already on the move and very fast. He still had some yoke sac attatched. I placed him in his container. Is there any special things I should do for it? I was so excited last night I forgot to check. Thank you so much. This is just my first little ones.

Sorry I don't know too much about hatchlings, But I've read they eat like pigs!
Congrats on the new babies and good luck!!

UVB and plastic

I put the little guy in a critter keeper. I have a heat lamp, damp paper towel, greenery, and a UVB lamp on him. But I do have a question about UVB and plastic. How do I set it up? According to what i've read the plastic will block the light. I thought about putting it on top but the chameleon likes to hang from there and I am worried about him getting burned. Any suggestions.

You could try hanging it and leaving the lid completely off. Unless the vines are close to the side of the cage (I don't know what size you have) he should be fine. You can always go get a tall tub.

2 more

I just had two more hatch this morning. They are so differnt and tiny. You can tell slightly what their patterns will be already. It is really cool.

babies

She laid 50 eggs which is why she passed away on us. It was a really large clutch. We gave 10 to a friend and traded 4 for 2 baby beared dragons. So we still have about 34. Two went bad. I think we might get 10 to 15. We bought the pair and babies from a woman so we did not have them until they were about 4 months old. So I do not know exactly how she took care of them. So far so good. We just wanted to do this for the experience which has turned out really great. We are so excited about this.

Number 4

Number 4 is hatching just now. I do not know why all of them are hatching. They are over an inch apart. I guess it was just time.

You said..."I do not know why all of them are hatching. They are over an inch apart."...the first one to hatch might have walked over the eggs that are hatching.

I thought that might be so

That could be very possible. They do walk around. The babies all seem fine. They are also about 7 months so I would think most of them are full developed. At least I hope so.
