Veiled chameleon not eating

I read a lot about chameleons stressing each other out if they are within sight of one another, so would second the barrier between cages idea.

I can't see a spur on those hind feet. But TBH, I suck at the whole ageing/sexing game. So I'll hold off on making any more assumptions.

If it is a female you have there these links will help with egg laying:

hmm.. is it possible that my veiled chameleon will get used to seeing my parrots ? my senegal chameleon has no problem with my parrot cage just infront of it.. it still eats like a beast~

Im relatively new here so take my two cents for what its worth... Every animal is an individual and what is fine for one may be really very stressful for another. Keep in mind stress and its resulting complications can be a killer for people as well as our pets! It would make sense to me that if chameleons naturally are threatened by birds that he may not get past that instinct. Again JMO. Best of luck! :D

Couldn't have said it better.

My 2 cents, move the birds or move the chameleon. Maybe your veiled will get used to it, maybe it wont.
Then again maybe a mouse will get used to having a cat living in the same room, maybe it wont. I personally would rather just separate them and spend my time working on Sudoku puzzles or something... Picking a fight with Mother nature is usually not a good idea (though sometimes...).

ok, i'll probably get a cloth to cover my veiled chameleon's cage. btw can veiled eat umbrella tree's leafs? i heard they are toxic.

there he is.. he just ate 2 more silkworms... I'm running out of healthy silkworms now.. the rest are all blackish yellow.. why won't it search for its own food?? its stomach is also getting bigger.. is it like pregnant? :|

Definetly need to have a barrier as chameleons are very territorial and shouldn't be housed together. Especially if there are parrots nearby hes getting freaked out he might get ate. If he's severly dehydrated, which I think is the agreement so far, soak him in a pedialyte bath for a little while. Make sure you throw out the pedialyte after 24 hours and use another one. The shower idea isn't bad, but you have to be careful of several things; the water isn't too warm, doesn't have chlorine (which just about all city water does), the shower area doesn't have any soap or cleaner residue, and that he isn't being pounded by the water. If he's to the put he's sleeping during the day, I would definetly get him to a vet asap.

help~~ my veiled is dying.. its having difficulty moving and has a weak grip.. and looks dehydrated~ and now both eyes are closed~ theres also a lump coming out in between its left arm and body.. right now i'm misting it..

He looks skinny and deydrated. Since you've been giving him drinks etc. I would say the problem goes a bit deeper than that. Possible parasites or an infection? Take him to the vet asap!

Veiled chameleons are nutorious for being grumpy, what stresses her out may not stress out your senegal (I think senegals are more chilled by nature)

Hope you guys get on ok! Keep us updated!

I agree, I would take him to the vet as soon as you can. It seems that the problem is getting worse, and you need to do it now before your chameleon is on death's door. You will be happy that you did, trust me.

Any vet will do at this point. There surely must be someone who has experience with other more common reptiles like bearded dragons or geckos. My vet is not an experienced chameleon vet but I will go see him if I need to.

At this point I really don't know what else you can do. You've tried feeding and watering and none of it seems to be working for you.

just came back from the vet.. the vet said that the left eye irritation is caused by vitamin A deficiency..so she gave an injection into the tail.. as for the lump, the vet said it could be her collar bone dislocated.. but it isn't affecting her movement so its ok.. the vet then gave me vitamin liquid for me to feed it to my chameleon daily.. . my chameleon's looking ok for now.. she's walking quicker than before and both eyes can be opened now.. but shes still sleeping unless disturbed.. I've put in the crickets container hoping that she will eat..

That's wonderful news! I'm so glad that you ended up taking her. I hope that she continues to improve over the next few days. Keep us updated!

she is getting better now as she can open her left eye more.. she ate at least 2 medium sized crickets everyday now but now i think she has URI cause i see her breathing heavily sometimes and tilting its head upwards when I'm misting her.. she still sleeps in the morning and only wake up in the afternoon to eat..but still shes sleeping alot.. these are some of her photos i took just now.. I think she could be a he as I can see spurs on his hind foot.. :)
