Veiled chameleon pacing cage

I have a veiled chameleon who keeps pacing his cage. He's been eating and drinking and his poop is normal and good. Plus he was at the exotic pet vet yeaterday and she said everything was good with him. But he's been pacing non stop and sometimes paces himself into a ball and as of last night has fallen once which scared me to death. So if anyone could help me figure out whys he's doing what he's doing it would be helpful.

Check

Are you absolutley sure it is a male? Check if the back of the back foot has a little bump, if so you have a male. If not then you should research about chameleons laying infertile egg clutches. Because if there is no bump, it is a female

Well since he has been to a vet, its safe to say that he is not gravid. Hmmm... Maybe it has something to do with him wanting to go out the cage. What the size of your cage and his size? Try free ranging him while youre around. I have a male here he hates his cage and free ranging him once aday when I'm around calms him down.

He can see reflection

Screen cages are absolutley nescessary for vertical climbing space and ventilation. I cannot stress this to you enough, you will end up with a very unhappy chameleon if he doesnt have climbing space. The chameleon can also get some pretty nasty respiratory diseases from improper ventilation. I personally reccomend the medium or large reptibreeze screen terrarium by zoo med for veileds. And also, yes, they can see their reflection and this can stress male chameleons out A LOT and greatly shorten their life. Even by a few years.

Best of luck & happy new year!

My new veiled CHAMELEON was completely fine today I got him two days ago he hasn't ate anything yet but I added some limbs and a food bowl to his cage and he has had his stress colors on since I put them in and he squints his eyes (I got him a uvb light today) what's the problem?????

May I suggest starting your own thread. People are a big help on this forum. But, start your own thread instead of asking a question about your own issue on someone else's thread.
