Amazing isn't it?

If its day time out while shes sleeping on your hand.. thats usually not a good sign=/
Someone else will chime in soon.

She doesn't eat too much, and i don't know how old she is. Maybe a couple of months. I got this Cham from a pet store that doesn't know squat about chameleons. It was mor like a rescue kinda

I dont think your cham is actually sleeping.
My guys sometimes close their eyes when I am holding them, and Smeagie will always close his eyes when I am rubbing his chin or tummy.
Sometimes, just the warmth of my hand will make them close their eyes
and relax.
It's like closing your eyes when your daydreaming, your not going to sleep, your wide awake.

There is also a theory that they will freeze and close their eyes when they are in a very stressful situation and they are scared.
I dont particularly think there is much truth to that IMO.
when afraid, they are more likely to puff up and hiss/snap, or do the notorious "suicide drop" and run like hell ;)

Well mine wasn't moving for 35 minutes, so I think she was pretty much sleeping. It wasn't like closing eyes and opening them after a short period of time such as a relaxed state.

Hi! She is lovely but looks a little too skinny. She looks to be around 3-4 months old and at that age she should be eating loads! Females especially should be really hungry!

Since she is getting to that age, you will need to start thinking about egg layingand a laying bin. Here are some great links on female keeping and egg laying

How long have you had her? If she doesn't perk up soon then a vet visit might be in order. Here's a great veiled care sheet for you too :)

Egg laying bin? But isn't she too young to lay eggs?

I'm not sure if it's just the picture, but her eyes look a tiny bit sunken to me. Am I imagining things?

Very cute little lady!

The earliest I've heard of is 4 months! It's good practice to have a laying site available at all times once they get around that age. You may want to introduce some other feeders too. Most if us try to have at least 4/5 different bugs on a ritation to keep it varied. Locust, silkworm, hornworm, roaches and butterworms are all good choices :)

Sorry, I didnt see the part that said it was late and near cham bedtime.

I would keep a close eye on her to see whether she's starting to nap during the day as well. I don't think I've ever had a cham (even very mellow ones) take a nap on my hand. Usually being handled did just the opposite...get them going! And, as you say she wasn't getting great care at the shop this might not be a good sign. Just consider the idea and watch.
