Oxytocin usually only works if its near the time they should be laying the eggs anyhow. In females suffering from malformation of the reproductive system or who are carrying malformed, misshapen, enlarged eggs or have an obstruction of the oviduct it may be dangerous.

Any reaction from the oxytocin yet??

In answer to the last two posts. No the vet didn't check her out and I injected her myself. As to if the oxytocin is working not as yet, but her cage is closed up so she isn't disturbed and I only check in once a day to make sure she is still ok, but I make sure she doesn't see me. I noticed she looks alot better after the injections and she also started to drink again when I put the dripper on so hopefully all will go well and she is going to lay the eggs soon. I don't know how far along she is, but she is huge, her stomach is full and round and when I took her out to inject her I could feel the eggs in her. As I got her only a few weeks ago I don't know how far along she is so I have to estimate, but she looks close and why else would she be hanging around at the bottom of the cage?

She could be hanging out at the bottom of the cage if she's becoming eggbound....but I'm hoping that she isn't.

If oxytocin is going to work, it only takes a few hours.

Then the oxytocin didnt work, nothing happened, but now she is drinking again and staying up in the branches again I dont know anymore what is going on

Is this normal or what is going on?Could it be the weather because it has been really cold here in SA lately, could that have an effect?
She is now staying up in the branches is very alert and doesn't seem to be anything wrong with her. Could it be that it isn't her time yet, I need some advise here these are my first chams and I don't want to loose them. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME

Hey Andre. Are you certain she has eggs in her? Posting some pictures of her and your other chams would be the best thing to do at this moment. You should maybe contact the guy who had them previously and ask if she has ever laid eggs before or been mated. Some people put the female in a large container like a dustbin filled with the laying substrate, then also put a branch in for her to perch on, I would also put a spot lamp over the bin for extra heat and light, unless she is in a room with adequate heat and lighting, I would think that with this method the cham would have nothing else to do but dig and lay, though it might take a couple hours for her to get started. I am not 100% sure that she has eggs, but it looks and feels like she does. The previous owner did breed with them and both females have laid before. I purchased a dustbin on friday and filled it up with playsand halfway, put a branch in for her to sit on and a light and then I put her in on saturday. All she does is sit on the branch she hasn't gone down so I am out of ideas now. I am going to leave her in there for a few more days and if she hasn't done anything then I will have to take her to the vet and see wat they say. My other female is close to laying so I have to get her ready to lay before I have the same problems with her. At least with this female I know that she is gravid as I had her with the male and I witnessed them mating, that was two and a half weeks ago so I am assuming she is almost ready to lay.
