Veiled incubation time advice?

Hi everyone

I have 13 veiled eggs that have been incubating since middle March. 4 of these are very swollen compared to the others and the other nine is very nicely calcified (white).

When I candle the eggs you can see veins, but it seems like they are standing still at the moment - no further development the last 2 months? I am no expert and this is what it seems like to me. There are still a lot of yellow visible when you candle them.

My temps have been 26.5 - 27.5°C which I cooled down to 24.5 - 25.5°C on the advice of a breeder about 2-3 weeks ago. Do you think this is a type of diapause or is this normal? Any advice would be helpful.

My clutch has been in for about 6 months at different temps through different months, I last candled mine about 2 months ago which would mean they were about the age of what yours are now, when I candled them I just saw veins and yellows, at around the same time my friend lost an egg from my clutch (I gave him half of them) so he opened it up and the cham had the body and all but no proper tail, or feet and legs.

So I think you wont actualy see the embryo at anytime during incubation, just the veins, unless you are using a VERY powerful torch or light.

I will candle one of mine today and see how things are going.

Oh and at the age of your eggs they should be starting to absorb the calcium from the soft shell so you will see they will get a grey spot in the middle of the egg and then about a month later they should be all grey.

Hope that helps

Thanks Tyrone!

The 4 very swollen ones seem to get a little less white - so here's me holding thumbs for both of us.
