Veiled stays darker colors

Hello all, I have recently got my first veiled chameleon. I'm not see how old he is, but I believe he's a little over a month old. I've had him for 8 days, and up until today he usually stayed lighter colors besides being a bit stressed at first. Today when he woke up, he started his day out light green and has since turned darker green and has stayed that way most of the day. I'm not sure if he is stressed or unhappy about something. His basking temperature is about 85 and the temperature at the bottom of the cage is around 70. His humidity is also 70 when missed and about 40-50 between mists. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Everything in your set up seems ok. Do you have a UVB light?? You cannot always associate dark colors with being unhappy. Sometimes they can be very stressed or agitated and will be bright in color because of this. You have only had him 8 days so give him some more time to settle in. He might just be getting used to his habitat. They can also darken up when absorbing the heat while basking.

Yes they can turn very dark when they are basking under the heat lamp, sort like human goes to the beach n getting sun tan to be dark, unless they are dark at the beginning....(y)
I would like to suggest u feed him alot of gutloaded feeder as much as he can eats since he is little over a month old,u will definitely need some good supplements like Calcium with n without D3 multivitamin, using them to bring out his health well being, there is lots good info to research in this forum, have fun n enjoy ur new chams:)
