Veiled suddenly agressive

My male veiled was never... the most calm chameleon, but he eventually warmed up to me and he was calm and did fine out of the cage. Recently however, he suddenly became super agressive, and i mean SUPER agressive. whenever i come close to him, he displays his amazing breeding colors, and flattents up and moves back and forth and litterally tries his best to bite me. What is causing this sudden change in behavior? is he more agressive because hes horny?? lol thank you!

when you say he “calmed down” this doesn’t mean he likes being handled this just means he is managing his stress by freezing in place. veileds in general and especially male veileds tend to be more aggressive. i recommend you try to give him lots of space and gain his trust by hand feeding and don’t force him to be handled because chameleons just don’t like to be handled it causes far too much stress than it’s worth.

my male is about a year old and i know thats his girlfriend. shes a sweetheart lol. and no he has no issue eating from my hand. i hand feed him every day. he just flips shit when my hand gets close to him.

At that age he's maturing/matured and that can lead to temperament changes.

oh no hes been through the teenage phase definately and he calmed down a bit, but this seems to be another teenage stage lol
