Veiled Watering system setup options

Hello all, I'm new to having a veiled chameleon, but not to reptiles in general, but I do have a few questions.

What is the best watering system for a veiled. I have a 18x18x24 zoo med glass enclosure with screen top , and 2 opening doors in the front.

I have noticed that with my dripper, its hard to contain the droplets into one main area, instead of having standing water around where the water drips off and hits the bottom. The base isn't drilled for a drain and I'm not so sure I'm capable of drilling glass without breaking it.
I'm just looking to keep the cham hydrated , but it seems that the dripper will just keep flooding the floor of the enclosure.

Any ideas? I was thinking of getting a repti fogger or an exo-terra monsoon mister with timer

Hey Crazy,

I personally have a mist king system, but from all the reading I have done I would go with a fogger system for a glass terrarium. It should keep your humidity up and you should see droplets on your leaves. Are you using live plants? Live plants would help with humidity too. I'm always open for suggestions too.

I put ice cubes on the screen and it'll just drip. Hang some sphagnum moss on the leaves and branches, looks nice and holds humidity well. Put a dish to catch water drips and that'll hell too.

I don't have many live plants in the terrarium at the moment... what would be the best to use? I would like to have live plants, but I don't exactly know what kind to use.

And as far as the fogger, are you saying had you known about the fogger, you would have gotten it instead of your mist king?

My only opposition to foggers and misters, is that I've seen all the horror stories about timers going bad and flooding the tank with misters, and foggers fans going out etc...

just not sure where to sink my money!

Diamond drill bit $8, follow the instructions and let the bit do the cutting, do not apply pressure. Its easy and worth taking 10 minutes. Watch some video's on YouTube.

I have both my chameleons in glass terrariums and I have an Exo terra monsoon that mists both my veiled and my panther cham. I love it, I turn it on in the morning and it goes off every 4 hours. I had a drip system before but it water logged my terrariums as it had no time to dry between and no where to drain.

The monsoon was a bit expensive but well worth it

I just picked up a Monsoon last night...seems like a great device, works pretty well too. Mine does have a slight drip from the nozzle, but I presume that goes with the territory.
My only issue is that my splitter is leaking slightly. Ive tried to reinsert the hoses but it still leaks a slight bit. Might email exo terra about a replacement, as I don't want to undo the work I did last night.

what do you have your duration set on?

Crazy - I have a reptibreeze cage (screened cage) that's why I opted for a misting system, but I have read if you are using a glass terrarium foggers help a great deal. As far as the horror stories of flooding issues, I think that may be because of poor planning. I only have one cage with a 2 gallon reservoir for the misting system and I have a 2 gallon drain catch bucket so to not worry about flooding should the timer get stuck "ON". I too was a little held back about misting systems, but a little planning goes a long way. I have read good things about the monsoon system too. That should work out very well.

Mine only drip for a few seconds after they go off. Mine go off every 4 hours for 16 seconds I believe. From 7am until 6pm so the cage can dry out before lights out. It works awesome.
