Just a story of my recent trip to veterinarian and wondering if anyone has ever seen this before.
So, a couple of weeks ago my male Yemen veiled chameleon developed this ring on his tail. It went ALL the way around a 1/4 inch section of his tail in the mid part of his tail. The way it started out was similar to a shed....But I was curious because it was such a perfect ring and it was a different color white (if that makes sense) almost as if it was calcified. Like the whitest white....It worried me. I was keeping an eye on it and noticed that he developed black lines in this section of his tail but only on the right side. I kept watching and at this point started using iodine liquid and neosporin because my vet was out of town for two weeks. In this two week period the side that didn't have the black lines started going into like a constant state of shedding. It would shed and then shed again. But the side with the black lines just kept staying strange looking. At one point one of his spikes (very small spike) sloughed off and I was frantic. That was like a day before the vet trip. Anyways, she diagnosed it as fungal and gave me silvadene cream and this blue liquid called chlorhexidine. Its only been a few days but it already looks better. I hope she diagnosed correctly. He is drinking like a sailor on leave and his appetite never changed throughout the ordeal. Hopefully he heals up pretty good and pretty soon!!!! My account is still new ill get some pictures of the rascal up soon!!
