Vet Visit - Wish Us Luck!

Feel so sad and worried at the same time.

My Panther Chameleon, Sebastian turned 6 years old this June, so he's about 6 and a half right now and due to old age, he's going down hill :( and he hasn't had ANY health issues since the day I got him until now, so he's done well health wise.

Last time he ate anything was 3 weeks ago and I assumed he was on a hunger strike has he had one before and started eating again, today has been the 4th week with not eating and he's loosing weight.

He's also stopped drinking all together in this past week or 2, I've tried misting up to 5 times a day, drippers, showers and even using pipets to see if he'd accept water that way, nothing.

I don't want to force feed and stress him out. So booked a appointment with my reptile vet but he's booked up until Saturday and he's the only reptile vet around my area :(

Wish us luck, worried he'll get put to sleep :(

I'm sorry to hear about your little old man. I have raised many chams to be senior citizens and it takes allot to keep them going. Normally the last 6 to 8 months or so I have to feed mine. It really depends on what all's going on with them. They seem to get allot of the same issues that older people have. Several of mine have had arthritis. One had high blood pressure and a stroke. It's an excellent idea to take him to a good chameleon vet and gets some X-rays and blood work. In the mean time I would highly advise you to feed him. Since it's been so long since he's had food at this point I would use Fluker's reptiboost a couple times a day until your vet visit. You can buy the Reptiboost at PetSmart or Petco. Wishing you and Sebastian the very best.

I live in UK so we don't have petco or petsmart here and none of the pet stores here sell that kind of stuff.

Well then my second choice would be to mash up a bunch of bugs and worms and feed them via a needle-less syringe. It you want to save your little man then you need to get some food in him and fast.

Got some silk worms today since their soft bodies, gonna try them mushed up with a syringe and see how that goes :)

It will go well, just stay positive! Silkworms are excellent because he will get needed water along with his silk worms. Let us know how the two of you are doing.

Just a update and a sad one :'(

I managed to get some silkworms as well as a little water into him but tonight he took a turn for the worst, came in to find him laid on the cage floor barely breathing, I'm still cradling him as I type this as I doubt he'll make it to tomorrow morning :'(

Very sad news. :(

My heart goes out to you.

Sorry to hear about your guy. Ours are just babies and already dreading the day. He obviously was well taken care of if he made it to 6 years!
