Viv positioning

I'd like to get a general consensus on the positioning of a viv, I've read that a few people believe the viv should be placed near a window (out if direct sunlight) to provide visual stimulation for the chameleon whereas others claim it could be stressful as the animal may try to reach any foliage/trees seen?
My viv is away from any sunlight, behind my bedroom door and I do worry that he gets a bit bored of his view: me sat on my bed watching TV!

I was debating the same idea. I haven't got my panther yet(I'm still building the cage) but I was thinking put him by the window so when I shut off his light it's not all of a sudden pitch black, more natural maybe.

This would be nice for someone with years of experience to answer for the both of us.

Some chams may be frustrated by the constant view of places they can't reach. some chams may feel very exposed to view if their cage doesn't have a lot of foliage to hide in. A smaller cham in a very generous cage setup may not react much. You may have to wait and try it. You might try filtering the window light with something that blocks the details of the view but lets light through (window sheers?).

Window sheers, a very good suggestion that I'm going to use, thank you. As far as a "view" I plan on taking him out in the Florida weather 2 hours a day.(for sun benefits as well) he's going to have to deal with not being able to go into the 48 foot tree in the back yard lol. Hope that don't discourage him.

Ahh, thank you. Window sheers are a brilliant idea! I think I'll have a shuffle of my room and see how he reacts, I think he's getting a little bored of his free standing tree in my room. Unfortunately with the weather getting cooler in England I can't put him outside unless it's brilliant warm sunshine, even then he has a bit of a strange reaction to it by freezing and contrasting his colours quite a bit!
