Waking up early

Hi!, so, every weekday i wake up at 6:30 am, but my chams lights wont go on until 10:30am. when i wake up, i do everything in darkness, just using my cellphone light to get dressed and very silently go to the bathroom and all.... today, saturday, i woke up at 9 30 pm and saw him awake, some days ago i had seen him trying to go to bed before his lights out, like 1 hour and a half before... so im wondering if it could be that im waking him up on the moring when i go to school on weekdays, or maybe just the sunlight getting into my room... do you think i should change his light schedule to 6:30am-6:30pm? or something later? and how should i do it? like everyday turning it 30 mins less in the timer? or just do it directly to this schedule???

thanks for the help!

Most likely its the sunlight waking him up. Imo it is best to time your lights with sunrise and sunset.

Wow being in Ohio I would hate to have my lights go on and off in this matter. That would mean 8:30am-5:30 in this crappy state. I would never see my chameleon! I currently have my lights to go on at 10:30am until 10:30pm. My chameleon always goes to her bed post when the light goes out, yet stays awake for another 30min or so. I know this because I am awake until midnight watching her.

haha yeah i know what ya mean, well you could give it 9am to 9pm you sill get some viewing ( my chams lights go off, but i dont sit in a dark room, they still go to their chill sleep spots and pass out)

I know what you mean.. its the same here. Mine are basically set to the longer summer days. My lights now are on a 7am to 8pm cycle, but my chams usually head to roost for the night about a half hr prior to lights out.

My lights go on at 715 am, and go off at 730 pm.
this way the lights come on when they are getting up from the sun at their window, and can go to sleep earlier as they have shaded spots, or stay awake till lights go off.

This is another reason why I need to move to the west coast! Arizona is on my list! 6am sunrise!!!! Feels like 11am east coast time! Dryer weather but thats why I have a humidifier :D

Do you have a low light lamp you use or what?

Thats one reason i moved my chams out of my bedroom is because i didn't like having to be in darkness if i went in my room after lights out (7 pm) but... I like them in my room better so they will be moving again so i'm curious as to what you do.

My schedule is 7:40am to 8:00pm, and I'm also in ohio.

Basically, If they get total darkness for awhile and fall asleep, turning on a small light in the room (that does not directly illuminate their eyes) does nothing. I have a light that sits behind a curtain and turn it on after 9, and it lights my room enough to be able to do what I need to.

The other thing is, Allowing the lights to be low at night is going to be positive for YOUR health as well. Our circadian rhythm is meant to go with the sun, and if you are using a lot of bright lights at night, it is negatively affecting your sleep. So I see this as a benefit, it forces me to be in lower light, which allows my body to begin producing sleep hormone melatonin, which leads to me sleeping better. This way one can fall asleep without noise makers, and without pills.

I live in ohio as well and have my little guy going from 12 to 12 since my work schedule. hes seems to be ok with it but i did see him awake an hour early eyeballing me.

I live in Michigan, "go Blue" since we got some Ohio people on here o_O but my sched is 7am-7-30p and since my Cham is in the family room and I'm up late watching tv I just put a dark blanket over his cage and it blocks out pretty much all light. Sometimes I'll leave the room for 15-20 mins with all lights out until he's sleeping good then come back in and watch tv or have the lamp on. Side note when I do go to sleep I take the blanket off his cage and have all lights out, this way he's gettin more air flow and no light disruptions (y).
