Walked out to my Garage and look at what I found

Thanks All,

I live In the Gunnison Crested Butte area

Ya know I'm a pretty modest Guy but skilled for some reasom with my hands.
I have stumbled across a cage design that I really think would work well for other Cham Keepers, Its Light (but strong!), can be custom stained or painted, various srceens can be used and It will be in an easy to put together kit. So it can be easily shipped. and more custome stuff depending on the Cham Keepers desire. :)

And yea, I gotta Say, My Parsons are SOOOO Awsome!! They have a really a nice settup now but Im really wanting to set them up in a grand kingdom soon

May I ask what screen you used in these cages? They look really nice. I am debating right now whether to build my own cage or to just order one.

I could save ya the building headach, I have an ungodly amount of tools and a shop, so this comes easy for me. Plus This new design just makes such good sence. I also think if it were to be moved, say to another house or state, It will also dissasemble and be reassembled at the other end. So people moving living location can easilly take their cages with them??

a couple of questions; the ones in the outside photos look different than the ones in the inside photos, are the ones in the outside photos wood as well?, if so how is the wood sealed and how are the mitered corners held together? how much would they cost compared to a regular 2x2x4' cage?. thanks for sharing, nice looking cages. jmo

The One outside is exact to inside one, Only smaller, and I painted it all black with waterproof paint. the bottom actually can hold water and is sealed at construction let dry very well, with a non toxic rubber based elastromeric formula that is brushed in. I already have other ideas for this water catch, but this setup works extraodinarily well.

The one inside the house is wood stained and sealed the same.

Everything is put together with screws. Im also in time probably going to look into making these in a milled plastic version as well. But I want them to remain light as possible (for shipping costs) and still be ridged and strong, Even the larger one without plants and such can be easily picked up and moved by one person.
As far as cost Im working on figuring all that out right now. as those 2 I had built with things I already had out in the Garage. But with this construction I think I can keep them affordable for what quality, eye appeal, and strength they will have.
One other thing I sprayed water on the side screens and water rolled down the mesh right into the sealed bottom. so as much water as possible will remain within the unit and drained into a dumpable catch bucket or whatever.

Thanks for the qusetion and interest all. :) I just feel this design will suit Cham owners very well. I have almost 20 years with Chams so I know all the details needed in cage making. But I always like an attractive looking ones also! It always make the Cham and setup such a pleasurable veiwing experience! ;)

very cool!!!!
i like the dripper cup system!!!! what kind of branch is that in the cage, the large vertical branchy one???

branches

also what kind of branches should i use in th enclosure... artificial or real. also i would appreciate any other advice i can get out of you guys. thanks!

I know it's been asked a few times, but I hadn't seen an answer, about how much are you going to be asking for a kit? Say the 2 x 2 x 4 size?

Great job on these by the way!

Thanks,

Brian

I have many variables of screen possibilities. The Black Cage in Picture has a slick looking 1/4 by 1/4 and 1/16 by 1/16 combination mixed mesh. I went with the smaller size mesh for this one, because It is a cage for my baby Fishers that are growing out of thier rearing cage. With this I can put in any suitable sized Crix and such and will have absolutly no escapees. This cage is fully sealed. (I HATE BUGS RUNNIN ROUND MY HOUSE. How about You!!)

I have systems to get food water -- everything in the cage without even opening the door. I will perfect and add these as cage options for purchasers.

I'm working up a price sheet, weighing the finished cage (for shipping ) and will post this info by mid week. I

Mainly I wand to keep shipping down for all, & affordable so I'm looking into many ways to accomplish all this at the moment. But daily I have new ways and Ideas pop into mind.

It is a dead tree parts, I find here locally to add eye appeal and walkways for the Chams. They seem to really like them. I will still add in some of those Rubber vines that you buy.

Thanks Titan! Anxiously awaiting the pricing as I'll be looking for a 2 x 2 x 4 kit of some kind soon. If possible, I'd rather support a fellow hobbyist. :D

Ok all sorry for the delay, I wanted to get all the info right before I posted any more. + I constructed a version of a kit enclosure that is ready to go!

Below are Pictures of this new cage. (26" wide X 23" deep X 47.5" tall & ONLY WEIGHS 23lbs!) I did this one in bright lime green just to show the ability to customize these with any color, screen material, and more.

This enclosure is in complete erected Kit form and can be taken back apart moved and re-erected. Im really surprised that I have kept the weight down well, while keeping it ridged and strong, so shipping cost can be minimal. For Instance I can have this shipped to North East Coast for $45.00 priority postal mail (2 to 3 days), or $23.00 for regular (at about a week in transit).

I am really happy with the look and strength of this design, I could even have it weather seeled for exterior use. The top can be customized to whatever system and such you use. This one has the deli cup dripper set above your plant base, a hole for getting your 5.0 linear mounted inside under the top, with the plug ran out the sealable hole. and a hole cut to size of your basking light, with mounting kit.

I'm going to start a new thread for this updated enclosure topic, so catch this continuation on that one also.

Ok I have put new cage picture on the next thread.
